"Ran! Ran! My beautiful, most caring, loyal, favorite friend, Hello! How's your day? Do you want water? Juice? Coffee? Want me to shine your shoes?" Sanzu happily greeted Ran as he sat beside him. The pink-haired male quickly glanced at the younger Haitani, nodding to greet him, before returning his gaze to Ran.
"What now, Sanzu?" Ran said in monotone as he glanced at his friend with a disgusted look on his face.
"What took you so long, dude? Lunchtime is almost over!" Rindou said, furrowing his eyebrows as he took a bite of his sandwich.
"Something happened, Rin, and..." The pink-haired male placed a can of juice on the table. "Ran, Master Ran, Ran-sama, did I already tell you that you're pretty? Prettiest of all the second years!" He said, shifting his head back to the older Haitani.
"Stop that, Sanzu; you're creeping me out!" Rindou said, eyeing his friend with concern.
Ran sighed. "No, I won't do it."
"Wait! I haven't even told you the favor I'm going to ask."
"Oh, so all of this is because you need a favor, huh?"
"Hehe, yes," Sanzu responded, opening the can of juice he'd bought and sliding it in front of Ran, almost like a bribe. "I promise I won't ask you for anything else after this. I'll be in debt to you forever."
Ran glanced at his friend, who's rapidly blinking his eyes. Annoyed yet intrigued by his friend's odd behavior today, he sighed. "Let me hear you first. What is it?"
"So, I fell in love," he said, causing Rindou to choke on his drink.
"You... What?!" Rindou exclaimed.
"I fell in love, Rin."
"Since when?"
"Since five minutes ago."
"Congrats? But what does that have to do with me?" Ran asked, resting his head on his palm.
"Wait. Who is it first?!" Rindou asked.
"Kaoru."
"Kaoru? Our classmate Kaoru? Miss Freshmen Kaoru?"
"Yes? Why? Is there another Kaoru here?"
"Oh, so you're into princess type?" Ran asked.
"No, no, I'm not into the damsel-in-distress type of girl."
"Then why did you fall in love with her?" Rindou asked, clearly intrigued. "It's been two months since the class started, and you always ignored her. You even said that, even though she's pretty, she looks too demure to your liking."
"Well, I was today's year old when I realized that the saying don't judge the book by its cover is real! Like, for real! So, Miss Nene asked me to bring the workbooks to the faculty, right? That's why I told you to go ahead, Rin. As I was rushing over, I almost bumped into Kaoru. Luckily, my reflexes are top-tier, so I managed to avoid her, and no one got hurt," Sanzu said with a smile, his cheeks turning red. "But then, as I was about to apologize, she looked me straight in the eyes with disgust and started cursing me out. She kept going on and on about how much of an imbecile I am and that if I ever hurt even the tip of the finger of her best friend because of my carelessness, I'd pay tenfold. And I thought... Wow, this is the girl I want to marry!"
"So, in short, you're a masochist?" Ran said.
"No! You don't get it, Ran. There's something about dominant girls that can make my heart flutter!"
"Yep, you're a masochist," Rindou said, nodding his head.
"So what's my role in all of this?" Ran asked.
