You left the guest room, your hair damp, wearing the clothes Tighnari lent you after you jumped in the shower. They were sitting down on one if the balconies, black tea and some fruits on the coffee table, talking about sweet nothings.
As they heard your footsteps, they both turned to look, Cyno's eyes slightly softening. He remembered those days back in the Akademia where you were a well known beauty that was often complimented, and in his eyes, you still were one. "Hey y/n, was the water alright?" Tighnari said.
You nodded. "I was kind of confused in the beginning, but I figured it out."
"Come join us" he patted the empty seat between him and Cyno, gesturing you to come and sit. You hesitated first, doubting if you were disturbing their peace until you gave in and walked up to them, sitting down.
"Thank you for letting me stay here and use everything, Tighnari" you smiled.
"Don't mention it, we are not strangers, are we?"
You smiled, looking down and playing with your fingers on your lap. "I mean, it's been a long time since last I've seen you guys." You looked up at Cyno. "I wasn't even aware that one of you became a general and the other a forest watcher."
They let the silence observe them as shame took over Cyno. What does he even say? Making excuses is pointless.
"You're right...I'm sorry, it's my fault."
"We've been quite busy especially after leaving the Academia. I'm sorry too still..." Tighnari added to his friend.
"I know that, you don't have to apologise, there's nothing to apologise for. Of course I understand both of you. It would be immature to hold a grudge for something like this that was eventually meant to happen as we grow up. I just...wasn't sure if we I was still considered friends by your side." You fake smiled to hide your embarrassment.
"We are though" Tighnari smiled. "Come on, all those years we spent together in the Academia, I still cherish those memories.... Remember how we always ended up having to cram everything last minute, even after promising Cyno 'we'll start earlier next time'-" You both started chuckling as the flashbacks took over you.
"Don't remind me..." you said embarrassed, then turned to Cyno. "I mean, not gonna lie. I can't remember the last time I started 'early' with my work. Unlike Cyno who always finished work the second the professor submits it, like the nerd he is-" You gave him a cheeky smirk as you teased him.
"I'd prefer being a nerd instead of dramatically crying and having a panic attack the last night before the exam, because you chose to live semester as if school doesn't exist." Cyno defended and you couldn't help but giggle, your laugh sounding like music to his ears.
