Reconsider

I write these words, a confession of pain,
Hoping for closure, for a love to regain.
But the wound remains open, a scar on my soul,
A reminder of love lost, a heart left whole.

Reconsider words before they leave our lips,
For once they're spoken, they cannot be erased.
Think twice before we let our temper slips,
And let regret be not what we embrace.

Reconsider actions, think before we act,
For every deed will have its aftermath.
Choose wisely, carry out with thought intact,
And let our conscience guide us down the path.

Reconsider all that we hold dear,
And cherish every moment that we're given.
For in the end, it's love that we revere,
And it's the key to a life well-livened.
