A teenage girl, of only seventeen, by the name of Soleil (So-Ley) Rosario (Soleil meaning sun in French), is trapped upon her mother's commands in a tall tower overlooking the Isle of the Lost. It was many moons ago when King Beast ordered all evil queens, kings, and witch folk to be locked on the isle to ensure the protection of Auradon and it's growing royal families.
Soleil, trapped in a tower, must sit aside and watch as four VK's are chosen to be freed by Prince Ben's authority to live a normal life at Auradon. Soleil wishes she had been picked, although most people don't even know of her existence.
Years later, Mal and Ben work together to free the rest of the kids from the Isle and bring them to Auradon, the whole Isle becoming one with Auradon. Many VK's chose to stay on the Isle, as it was their home for their whole life. However, one night Soleil decided that she's sick of being overlooked and wanted to chose a life for herself, one that wasn't confined to a tower.
She snuck out, seeking the help of another VK, before finally making her escape to Auradon. It is there, where she finds herself a part of the Auradon community, makes friends, enemies, and learns how to adjust to societal norms for the very first time. It is here where she also captures the attention of a very popular, young royal by the name of Matthew Sturniolo.
Except there's only one problem, young Matthew Sturniolo has a girlfriend, one of whom is very protective of their relationship together and will not stop to keep him as her own. What will dear Melody do once she realizes that there's the possibility of the boy she's been in love with for years, might be falling for another woman.
