Melokuhle's POV:Nkosenye: "Marchmellow, uMa uthe uvuke!" (Melokuhle, mom said you must wake up!) my brother said banging at the door.
It is always like this....my brother telling me to wake up as if my mother wasn't enough 😭Me :" I know and I'm in the bathroom" I said irritated
Nkosenye : "Make it snappy ke" he left after I shouted an "OK"
......
I finally got dressed and headed to the kitchen, hoping to find some solace in my family's presence. As soon as I was done I reluctantly headed downstairs as it was 06:45 and school starts at 07:15 .As I entered the kitchen, I was greeted by the warm aroma of bacon and eggs and the chatter of my loved ones.
uMa was busy setting the table, while my father, uBaba, sat at the table, sipping his tea. My elder brother, Nkosenye, was already seated, scrolling through his phone.
uMa: " Nana , have this fast you are already late "
Me: "Sawubona nawe Ma. (Hello to you too Mom.)" She just gave me a side eye enough to keep me quiet for the whole day
uBaba: " Hlehle Ka Baba ( daddy's Hlehle) , how are you today? You look a bit troubled."
Me: "I'm fine, Baba. Just didn't feel like going to school today."
Nkosenye: "I told her to come to school, Baba. She can't let her struggles get the best of her."
uMa: "That's right, Nana. You're a bright girl. You can overcome anything. Now, come eat your breakfast and let's get you ready for school."
Me : " Thanks fam " I said with a slight smile that quickly washed away.
Nkosenye : " Pleasure.... anyway what's for breakfast"
Ma: "Bacon and eggs " she said placing the food on the table with help from my fav. helper uSis Amanda.
But my appetite was gone. I pushed the eggs and bacon aside and opted for a bowl of muesli with yogurt instead .....my all-time favourite 😋
uMa: " Nana, don't be late for school. You have a big day ahead."
Me: " Bro, let's go! I need to meet my friends before class starts."
Nkosenye: "Okay, Marchmellow, let's hurry! I'll drive you to school."
I grabbed my bag and we rushed to his car.
What would the day bring?
