My room looked like a farm full of red and black roses.

The memories of my date with Nicolas yesterday were still fresh in my mind. We talked for hours on the phone last night after he dropped me home (secretly), followed by the sweet sound of his gentle snores and murmurs, and I made sure to put my cell phone on speaker and tell him to do the same without hanging up before sleeping so that I could be there for him if he ever had a nightmare again, as I have done every night since our dating agreement.

There were a few nights when he started screaming his sister's name, just like I had heard outside that cabin that night, and it startled me awake, so I would cut the call and call back until he picked up my phone, when I would talk to him through it and make him fall asleep again. Thankfully, this worked, and whenever he went back to sleep after those nightmares, he would whisper my name slowly.

When my alarm went off at eight a.m., he must have ended the call as he does every day at seven, leaving me a good morning text.

It was the same today, with the exception of a handful of rose bouquets placed across my room.

How the fuck-

Before I could scream my thoughts out loud, my phone rang and displayed Demi's name.

I answer the phone instantly. "Were this you?"

"It was me, and not." Demi began. "And you have some explaining to do about your boyfriend."

My eyebrows crooked. "Boyfriend?"

"You went on a date with Nicolas yesterday; doesn't that mean he is your boyfriend?" Demi replied. "If it wasn't for him, I don't think you were going to tell me about him any sooner."

Are we really a couple after just one date?

"One thing at a time." I pushed my thoughts away before speaking again. "First of all, why did you send me roses?"

"I didn't." She spoke.

I blink at the flowers in front of me. "You just said you did."

"Yes," Demi answered.

My head drops with a sigh. "Demi, stop confusing me; I am serious."

"You didn't see the text from Nicolas?" She questioned. "He said you do that first thing in the morning."
