The sun had barely risen when Bokuto walked into school, feeling a little dazed from the night before. He hadn't slept much after Y/N had dropped some pretty serious hints about her feelings. His brain kept replaying their conversation, and his heart still fluttered with excitement, every time he thought about it.

He strolled into the gym for morning practice, trying to shake off his grogginess. The usual clatter of volleyballs bouncing filled the space, and Akaashi was already running drills with some of the other members of the team.

As soon Bokuto stepped onto the court, something was different. The entire team was staring at him with smirks on their faces, exchanging knowing glances. He raised an eyebrow, suddenly feeling self-conscious.

"What?" Bokuto asked suspiciously, narrowing his eyes.

Akaashi glanced over at him, his expression calm but with the faintest hint of amusement in his eyes.

"You seem...well-rested, Bokuto-san. Had a good night, did you?"

The rest of the team broke into chuckles, and Bokuto's face flushed bright red.

"What's that supposed to mean?!" he exclaimed.

Yamato, one of the middle blockers, snickered as he walked over, clapping a hand on Bokuto's shoulder.

"Come on, captain...don't be so modest. We all know you were with Y/N last night."

The gym erupted in laughter, and Bokuto's heart raced.

"How do you know that?!" he sputtered, looking wildly around at the grinning faces.

Yamato waggled his eyebrows

Yamato waggled his eyebrows. "Word gets around, Bokuto. The whole team knows you've got a thing for her."

Bokuto's mouth dropped open in shock.

"I-I do not!" he protested, but even as the words left his mouth, he knew they weren't true. His cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red, and he crossed his arms over his chest defensively.

"W-we're just friends!"

The teasing only intensified, with the rest of the team joining in, all of them poking fun at their usually bold and confident captain.

"The ace's blushing! I've never seen him so embarrassed!" Konoha chimed in, earning a chorus of laughs from the others.

"Bet he's planning to ask Y/N out any day now," Yamato added, nudging Bokuto playfully.

Bokuto buried his face in his hands, groaning in frustration.

"AkAAshi, help me out here!" he pleaded, hoping his vice-captain would step in and save him. But Akaashi only raised an eyebrow, a small smile playing on his lips.

"Why would I do that when it's all true?"

Bokuto shot Akaashi a betrayed look. "Et tu, Akaashi?!" he exclaimed, throwing his hands up in exasperation.

"Hey, Bokutol! I brought your...." Y/N chimed in as she entered the gym, but she immediately noticed the strange atmosphere in the gym. Every member of the team suddenly went silent and stared at her, the teasing smirks replaced by wide-eyed shock.

Bokuto froze, his heart nearly leaping out of his chest. He stood there like a statue, completely unsure of how to act now that Y/N had walked in on their conversation.

"Oh, no," Bokuto thought, panicking internally. "They're going to say something!"

Before Bokuto could stop them, Konoha said, gesturing grandly toward Y/N.

"Look, who just walked in, fellas! The lady of the hour."

Y/N blinked in confusion, glancing around at the team. "Uh...mina-san. What's going on?" she asked, her voice tinged with suspicion.

The entire team was snickering now, but it was Bokuto who looked like he wanted to disappear into the floor. He frantically waved his arms in front of him, trying to defuse the situation before it got worse.

"N-Nothing's going on!" Bokuto stammered, his voice an octave higher than usual. "They're just being stupid, don't listen to them!"

Akaashi, ever the composed on, decided to drop the bombshell. With a deadpan expression, he said, " They're just excited because Bokuto hasn't stopped talking about you since last night."

Bokuto whipped around to glare at Akaashi, his eyes wide with panic.

"AKAASHI!!!!!"

Y/N blinked in surprise, her eyes widening as her cheeks turned a faint shade of pink. "Wait...What?"

Bokuto was now a sputtering mess, trying to find some way to salvage the situation.

"N-No! I mean—yes! I mean—" he threw his hands up in the air in defeat.

"Okay, fine! Yes, I've been talking about you but it's not what it sounds like!"

The team burst out laughing, and Y/N couldn't help but giggle at Bokuto's flustered state. She walked over to him, her smile soft and reassuring.

"It's okay, Bokuto," she said, her voice gentle. "I'm glad you think about me."

Her words only made Bokuto's heart race faster. He scratched the back of his head, grinning sheepishly. "Y-yeah, well...You're important to me."

As the team continued to tease Bokuto, Y/N couldn't help but laugh along with them. She found herself enjoying the playful atmosphere. Sure Bokuto was embarrassed, and his teammate were making his life difficult, but he didn't mind. Not when Y/N was standing next to him, laughing and smiling.

Akaashi, leaned in to Bokuto and said in a low voice,

"You know, Bokuto-san...you could always ask her out. Just saying."

"S-shut up!" Bokuto yelled.

As the practice session continued, Bokuto stole a glance at Y/N, his heart still fluttering in his chest. Maybe asking her out wasn't such a bad idea after all.
