It was a rare day off from volleyball practice, and Bokuto found himself spending the afternoon at Y/N's house. The two of them had grown even closer after Bokuto's heartfelt confession, and now they were in that exciting yet awkward stage of their relationship—unsure of what was next but thrilled to be in each other's presence.

They were sitting on the floor in Y/N's room, surrounded by snacks and a half-finished board game that neither of them were paying much attention to anymore. Bokuto was leaning back on his hands, looking up at the ceiling as he rambled on about the latest volleyball strategies, his mind always half-occupied by the sport.

Y/N couldn't help but smile as she watched him talk, her heart doing little flips at how passionate and animated he was. But she also noticed how Bokuto kept sneaking glances at her, his usual confidence tinged with something more bashful today.

She knew what was on his mind—it had been on her mind too. They had been dating for a couple of weeks now, but they still hadn't shared their first kiss. Both of them were waiting for the right moment, but neither knew when that moment would come.Or how it would happen.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and Y/N's mother peeked her head inside with a mischievous grin. "How are my two lovebirds doing in here?"

Bokuto turned bright red at the teasing nickname, flailing his arms in panic. "L-Lovebirds?!"

Y/N laughed, trying to calm him down. "Mom! You're embarrassing him. "Her mother just chuckled and winked at them. "Oh, I'm just having a little fun. You two enjoy yourselves. And Kotaro, you're welcome to stay for dinner."

With that, she closed the door, leaving them alone once again. Bokuto scratched his head awkwardly, still blushing furiously.

Y/N found it utterly adorable. She scooted a little closer to him, her heart racing as she finally decided to take the plunge.

"Hey... Kotaro?"

He looked over at her, blinking. "Yeah?"

She hesitated for a moment, biting her lip before asking, "Do you ever think about... kissing me?"

Bokuto's eyes went wide, and his face turned a deeper shade of red than Y/N had ever seen. He immediately started flailing again, waving his hands in front of him as if to deflect the question. "W-Well, I mean, I—uh—well—maybe! I mean—yes! Wait! No! Not no! Yes, I do! But—uh—"

Y/N giggled, gently placing a hand on his arm to calm him down. "It's okay, Bokuto. I've thought about it too."

That seemed to ease his nerves a little, but he still looked nervous. "R-Really?"

"Really." Y/N responded.

There was a beat of silence as they both stared at each other, hearts pounding in their chests. Bokuto took a deep breath, mustering up all the courage he had.

"W-Would now be a good time to—um—try?"

Y/N smiled softly and nodded. "I think now's perfect."

Bokuto's eyes lit up, but just as he leaned in, a loud noise from the living room made him jump. He jerked back suddenly, almost knocking over the board game pieces scattered around them. "What was that?!"

Y/N blinked in confusion, then realized it was just the TV that her mother had turned on. She couldn't help but laugh.

"It's just the TV, Kotaro."

"Oh." Bokuto rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Right. Okay. Let's try that again."

He leaned in again, this time slower, his eyes fluttering shut as he closed the distance between them. But then—

*CRASH!*

They both jumped again, this time startled by a loud clatter in the kitchen. Bokuto, in his surprise, fell backward, landing flat on his back with a groan.

Y/N doubled over laughing, clutching her sides as Bokuto lay there, staring at the ceiling with a bewildered expression. "Is the universe trying to stop us or something?"

Finally, after what felt like a never-ending string of interruptions, Bokuto sat up, determination written all over his face. "Alright, no more distractions! Third time's the charm, right?"

Y/N giggled, nodding. "Third time's the charm."

With one more deep breath, Bokuto leaned in for the third time. This time, the world seemed to hold its breath for them. No crashes, no loud noises, no distractions. Just the two of them.

Finally, their lips met in a soft, sweet kiss. It was a bit awkward at first—Bokuto wasn't entirely sure what he was doing—but Y/N guided him, her touch gentle and reassuring. Their kiss was brief but filled with warmth, and when they pulled away, they were both blushing and smiling like idiots.

Bokuto grinned sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck again. "Wow. That was... that was nice."

Y/N smiled, her cheeks still pink. "Yeah, it was."

They sat there for a moment, basking in the afterglow of their first kiss, feeling closer than ever. Bokuto reached over, lacing his fingers through hers and giving her hand a gentle squeeze.

"I'm really glad I met you," he said quietly, his voice filled with sincerity. Y/N squeezed his hand back, her heart swelling with affection. "I'm really glad I met you too."

"I love you, Y/N"

"I love you too, Kotaro"

As they sat there, holding hands and exchanging shy smiles, they both knew that this was just the beginning of something wonderful—full of love, laughter, and, of course, a few hilarious mishaps along the way.

THE END ❤️
