Lucifer's POV:

As Lucifer stepped out of the hospital room, he made sure to close the door quietly, like he was sneaking out of a library. Alastor was finally asleep, thanks to some well-placed charm (and maybe a kiss on the forehead, but who's counting?). But now, Lucifer had a bigger problem-one that didn't involve snoring deer demons.

He needed an excuse. And not just any excuse. The kind that could fool a notoriously sharp, no-nonsense figure like Sera. The woman was as stubborn as a mule, only less cute and more terrifying.

Convincing her to play along? That was like trying to sell ice to a polar bear. And Lucifer was all out of ice.

With a sigh that felt like it came from the bottom of his soul (and let's face it, that's pretty deep), he made his way to the waiting area where Charlie and Vaggie were pacing like expectant parents.

"Dad!" Charlie's voice was like a ray of sunshine, bright and blinding as she barreled toward him for a hug.

"Hey, Sweetie," Lucifer managed to say, even though his brain was already running a hundred different scenarios of how to get out of this mess.

"Sera says she'll stop the extermination! At least... for now."

The relief washed over him, mingled with pride. His daughter had managed to negotiate with Sera, the angel who probably invented the phrase "tough customer." Maybe there was hope for him yet.

"That's wonderful news! So, where's Sera now?"

"Oh, she's waiting for you and Alastor. Wait... where's Al?"

Cue the internal panic. Lucifer's mind scrambled like eggs in a hot skillet. Think, Luci, think...

"Uh... HE'S BUSY! HAHA, I'LL JUST GO TELL SERA! BYE!"

Smooth. Real smooth. Lucifer practically sprinted down the hall, leaving Charlie and Vaggie in his dust, probably wondering if he'd lost his marbles. Spoiler: He might have.

Standing in front of Sera's office, Lucifer hesitated. The door looked a lot more intimidating now, as if it was daring him to enter. But he wasn't about to back down-after all, he'd faced worse. Like that time he tried to explain a TikTok video to his council.

He knocked.

"Come in," came Sera's voice, firm and no-nonsense, like she was already disappointed in him.

Taking a deep breath, Lucifer pushed the door open and stepped inside. Immediately, he noticed the changes. Sera sat behind her desk in a sleek wheeled chair, looking like she was about to decide the fate of the universe. Oh, and she was wearing glasses now. Of course, because nothing says "I'm the boss" like a pair of serious spectacles.

"Well, that's new," he thought, trying not to let it throw him off his game.

"Please, sit," Sera said, pointing to one of the chairs in front of her desk. The word "please" was there, but it felt more like a command than a request.

Lucifer sank into the chair, feeling like a kid called to the principal's office. Except this principal could probably send him straight to oblivion with just a look. She didn't need detention slips-she had judgment calls.

"Where is Alastor?" she asked, her voice slicing through the silence like a scalpel.

Lucifer swallowed, trying to find the right words. "About that... I need your help."

And with that, he launched into the whole saga. The ambush, the injuries, the whole mess that led them here. Sera listened without interrupting, her face as unreadable as a poker champion's. By the end of it, Lucifer was half expecting her to say, "Is that all?"

But instead, she turned to look out the window, taking her time before speaking. The suspense was killing him, but then again, suspense was her specialty.

"I understand," she said finally, her voice steady as a rock. "And I will help you. But there's a condition-you'll have to help me in return."

Because of course there was a catch. With Sera, there was always a catch. Whatever she had in mind, it wasn't going to be a walk in the park. More like a sprint through a minefield. But what choice did he have?
