It had taken the campers a few days, but they managed to make their base. And it was holding up pretty well.
It wasn't the best looking, but it had everything they needed. Even a semi functional shower.
Everything had fallen into a pretty even routine the past couple of days and they hadn't even had any dino related problems.
Right now, Darius and Y/N were sitting on the couch, discussing different video gaming consoles while Yasmina and Sammy tried to pry open some cans of food.
Brooklyn was still lazing around in her bunk, but nobody really seemed to mind.
Kenji was in the shower, complaining about the cold water as if it hadn't always been that way.
Once he shut up, a comfortable silence fell over the group, seeing as Y/N and Darius had run out of things to say as well.
It was nice to be able to relax like they had been for the past week or so. Especially after everything that had happened. So, when silence fell upon them, none of the campers really had a problem just relishing in it for a while.
None of them except Kenji of course.
An empty plastic jug comes flying out of the shower and bounces off the wooden table.
Everyone turns their attention to the source of the projectile as it rolls across the ground.
"¡No más agua!" Kenji calls, waving his arm from behind the shower curtain.
"A little help?"
"I got you, Kenj." Darius stands up and goes to retrieve the jug.
"You can't keep treating him like a baby, man." Y/N shakes his head.
"Exactly, if you keep doing that for him, he'll never learn to do it for himself." Yasmina reminds Darius.
Darius just shrugs and slips onto the slide, probably his favorite part of their fort.
"Kenji does not deserve that boy." Y/N huffs under his breath.
Everyone proceeds with their prior silence until Darius calls from down by the stream, "Hey, uhm, guys!"
The campers rush down to meet him and see what's going on.
They're met with quite a confusing sight. All the water from the stream is gone. The only indicator that it was ever even there is the small pools of mud at the very bottom of the gap.
"Where'd the water go?" Sammy bends down to get a closer look.
"Maybe we should ask Mr. 45-minute shower." Y/N suggests as Kenji approaches, drying his hair with a towel.
"Hey, looking good is part of my brand. And no way I drained a whole river." Kenji crosses his arms defensively.
He shoots Y/N a glare which the other boy quickly reciprocates.
Darius steps between them and addresses everyone, "We've gotta figure this out or we'll be out of water fo-"
Brooklyn suddenly shushes him and that's when everyone realizes she had crossed the stream.
They all go silent, waiting for her to say something.
"I hear that hum again!" Brooklyn announces, causing her peers to groan.
"The river must've been drowning it out before. If I can follow that sound, I can find that--"
"Frozen patch of flowers." Everyone else finishes in unison.
"Oh. I've mentioned it, huh?" Brooklyn laughs awkwardly.
"The frozen flowers you saw once but never found again?" Kenji asks sarcastically.
