SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF FRANCE
Cameron was sitting in an abandoned building as the sound of gunshots filled his ears. He heard it quieting down and decided to run to the next building. He had to be careful as snipers were skilled in their craft.
He's never experienced anything like this before. The value of human life just thrown out the window as men kill each other. But, in a setting like this one does not have time to think about those kinds of things.
What Cameron does think about is Christian. He misses him deeply. He keeps his photograph close and kisses every morning and every night no matter where he is.
Cameron listens to his captain and he tells him the goal is to take the church that is at the end of the street. That is the meeting point between them and another unit.
Shoot and cover, that is what the men do.
Cameron doesn't have a good feeling about this mission as he thinks they're not being met with much enemy resistance.
They're one building away as Cameron has a death grip on his gun. His hands shake. His breathing labored. His eyes searching for movement.
Cameron sees no movement and runs for the church. He and his buddy Andy are the first to enter the church. They take cover in the front.
Cameron breathes heavily from the adrenaline pumping through his veins.
All of Cameron's unit entered the church and huddled together in the front. Cameron uses this down time to wait for their counterpart and takes out Christian's picture.
He wipes some dirt off the picture and smiles down at the picture being sure no one can see what he's doing. Cameron hears screaming but before he can see what's going on he hears the sound of gunshots.
It's an absolute bloodbath in the church.
In the silence of the morning, bodies are laid out everywhere and if you come closer you can see a photograph on the floor with blood smeared all over it. A thumbprint of blood is on the face of the person in the picture.
The picture is of Christian Lee.
The blood is of Cameron Parker.
