SEBASTIAN
"That's still no excuse for risking expulsion, Sebastian." Ominis continued to scold me between bites of his breakfast. He had been at it all morning after having to talk the Headmaster into having me clean the entire trophy room without magic, rather than face suspension after my little trip to the Restricted Section with Devorak last night.
"Well, she found what she was looking for, so it was worth it." I shrugged, taking a sip of my pumpkin juice.
"Worth it!? Merlin– you're going to kill me Seb." Ominis pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, an action I found hard to see as anything other than adorable. He was incredibly attractive when he was flustered.
"It's gotta be something big Om, Professor Fig has practically sworn her to secrecy. It took me prodding all day to get her to give me some of the details.
"That doesn't mean you should be getting yourself involved." Ominis rolled his unseeing eyes before pushing the remainder of his meal away.
"If you would just talk to the girl instead of glaring at her, maybe you'd come to see that she's actually pretty brilliant, and good company." I argued, finishing the rest of my food.
"Why does everyone keep saying that? I don't glare at her." He sighed, and I laughed.
"You absolutely do, and evidently I'm not the only one who thinks so." I paused, taking a closer look at him. "Why are you so determined not to like her?"
"I simply don't know her, that's all." He replied simply, but I knew him better.
"She's not cruel, Om. She's been far kinder to those around her than they've been to her. I know you were listening in on those third years gossiping about what happened in the girls' dormitory yesterday morning." I raised a brow, waiting for him to scramble for some snarky remark in response.
"That's beside the point." He countered, and it was my turn to roll my eyes.
"She's not Clara, Ominis." I replied softly. Ominis's fist clenched tightly at the mention of her name.
"We had a deal, Sebastian." Ominis's voice was low with warning.
"I don't give a damn about that deal. You'd do well to let yourself move on Om. Devorak is not Clara. You're only going to end up hurt if you try to weed out the bad before looking for the good in people." I argued, earning a heated glare from Ominis.
"You've known her all of three days and you're already enamored with her." Ominis scoffed. "It would do you well to exercise caution with new people."
"I became friends with you on the first day of school, I'll have you remember. Despite everyone telling me you were a weird loner. We've been inseparable ever since." I caught him there, as Ominis flushed a light shade of pink. "Just give her a chance, Om. I really do think you would like her."
"I'll consider it." Ominis sighed, moving to get up from the table. "Let's just get going before we're late. Merlin, you're so bloody stubborn." I smirked lightly as I followed him from The Great Hall, the annoyance practically radiating off him.
"And you love me for it." I countered, pulling his tie and bringing his lips to my own with sharp demand before releasing him softly.
"I–That doesn't mean you're not a pain in my arse." He stammered quickly when we parted.
"I do give it my best effort." I smirked as we hurried off to Herbology.
Devorak was speaking to Professor Garlick when we entered, so I moved to take my seat next to Ominis near the back of the classroom. She spotted us immediately when she turned around, and her sapphire gaze widened with urgency as she rushed over.
