SEBASTIAN
***Mature Content Warning***
We raced towards the billowing clouds of smoke flooding the skies above my beloved village. Crows shrieked and fled their scavenges as we thundered across the valley. My chest was heaving from strain as we sprinted, and rage was burning like a sickening pit in my stomach at the sight.
Anne!
I have to get to Anne!
I have to protect Anne!
The heavy scent of smoke was suffocating in the air when we arrived, the screams and shouts of the villages blending in an unsettling melody against the excited taunts from the goblins as they lit the hamlet ablaze.
Devorak threw herself into the line of fire without hesitation. If I had blinked, I would have missed it as she dashed across the clearing, disarming the closest goblin ranger with his crossbow set on a young child. With an expert flick of her wand, she caught the ax as it flew from the goblin's hand, and buried it into his chest with a roar of anger. She was at the child's side in the next moment, quickly examining him for injuries before returning him to a relieved father.
Ominis and I charged in next. He provided me with much needed cover as I fought my way towards the cottage. I didn't care how many of these bastards were here. I will slaughter them all if they've so much as laid a hand on my sister.
"Levioso!"
"Confringo!"
"Expulso!"
Our arrival helped turn the tide significantly. Our spells cut through the attacking goblins with ease, and I could barely contain the satisfaction that flooded through me with each vile bastard that fell.
There was a sudden onslaught of crashing and chaos as Devorak got ahold of several crates and barrels with her Ancient Magic, flinging them at the goblins with such force they were knocked to the ground, unmoving.
I would never tire of watching her fight.
"Sebastian!" Devorak's was facing me now from across the clearing, wearing a fearful expression. My gaze followed the direction of her pointed finger over to—
No!
Just outside the house, Anne and Solomon were struggling to hold back a horde of goblins that had pushed past the defensive barriers. They were being overrun. My movements were like lightning as I sprinted across the clearing, catching up to Devorak as we charged forward to help. We threw ourselves into the fight, Ominis not far behind as we took the goblins by surprise when we surrounded them.
We quickly managed to push them back, but more of the bastards just kept coming. I flinched as a shield charm manifested around me just in time to deflect a crossbow bolt barreling towards me.
"Sebastian be careful!" Devorak exclaimed, her expression flitting between frustration and concern.
"We've got them! They'll retreat! We'll make them retreat!" With a growl I turned back to the fight, firing off curses as fast as they could pass my lips.
This was my home, and I would be damned if I would lose it to goblin scum.
"Sebastian you fool! Stop provoking them!" Solomon roared over the commotion, which only sparked my anger further. What the fuck does he know?
This was his fucking fault.
By refusing to do anything about the goblin camps being erected around Feldcroft, he's responsible for the destruction here today.
