ASRA

I hadn't spoken to Sebastian in nearly three days.

He hadn't returned to The Room, and all I heard of him was what Ominis relayed to me whenever he wasn't splitting his time between us during our little row. Poor Ominis did his best to split his time between the two of us, attempting to make peace as we went about our separate frustrations.

I knew it was childish.

I knew I should just let it go. Things were heated, and I knew Sebastian had strong opinions towards goblinkind.

I suppose I just hoped that they weren't so strong they would start competing with logic and reason.

I thanked the Gods for the distraction as a familiar owl dropped a letter in front of my lunch. I quickly opened the wildflower pressed parchment, recognizing Poppy's swirling cursive at once.

Asra,

I have some promising news about the location of our Hebridean dragon friend, and where to return her you-know-what.

I also want to make sure she is not burdened by one of those collars.

Meet me in the town circle in Hogsmeade.

—Poppy

I abandoned my meal entirely, too excited at the prospect of finally being able to return the egg we rescued to its mother. Herbology would have to wait. I grew more anxious with each day that passed that somehow it would hatch, and I would be stuck with a baby dragon that needed to be smuggled from the castle.

After returning to The Room to change and grab the egg, I hurried to the nearest floo flame in order to make it to the village in a timely manner. I didn't want to waste a single moment.

I spotted her off to the side of the square near the post office, and hurried to her side with a wave when she caught sight of me.

"I didn't keep you waiting did I?" I questioned as I caught my breath from my rushing here.

"Not at all. I was just at the post office." Poppy shook her head with a smile. "Gran told me to expect a package, but it looks as if she forgot to send it. She didn't send me an owl this week either... I assume she's busy with her research."

"What kind of research is she doing?" I questioned, my interest piqued.

"It varies from week to week, but it's always to do with creatures. Last week she was studying leg knots in Plimpies." Poppy answered with a humorous chuckle.

"I see. What is it you discovered about our dragon friend?" I then cut to the purpose of our meeting.

"It hit me that I had been searching in the wrong place the entire time." Poppy replied with an embarrassed flush. "I remembered that the dragon had no idea that they took her egg, so she would have headed straight back to her nest in order to protect it. So, I went back to the tent and traced her flight pattern across the tops of the trees."

"That's brilliant Poppy!" I exclaimed, and the Hufflepuff flushed scarlet.

"I can't be certain, but I may have an idea of where she may have been heading. I thought we might go and see it for ourselves." She replied with a wave of her hand, dismissing my compliment.

Gods, I was hoping she would ask that.

"Shall we leave now?" I questioned, eager to put an end to this absurd situation we had found ourselves in.
