I sent my folks the details for the dinner party and got ready. They told me not to worry and enjoy the show. What show?

I asked Diego about it. He didn't know what they meant, which is hilarious since Diego knows everything. But he assured me he didn't know since no one would tell him anything.

If you want the non-filtered truth about something, ask Aunt Daria. She has no issue telling you the truth. So, I asked her. She told me I could wait. When I pressed her, she refused to say to me since Uncle Ryden threatened to hide her snow globes from her if she said anything. If you knew Aunt Daria, you would understand that her snow globes were her prized possession. It started when Uncle Ryden gave her one for Christmas before they started dating.

Once Diego and I finished getting ready, we collected the girls and headed to Eden's parents' house. I pulled up to a massive house with several cars parked in the circular driveway and street. I found a parking spot in front of a familiar SUV—Grandpa Matt.

"Isn't that Grandpa Matt's vehicle?" Diego asked.

"Yep, and that means more family is here," I said, getting out of the car. I opened Eden's door while Diego and Marissa stepped out from the backseat.

We walked toward the house and entered as a butler greeted us. I noticed many unfamiliar faces when we entered before a familiar one stepped into view and winked at us before disappearing into the crowd.

A few minutes later, Diego and my parents approached us.

Mom gave me air kisses. "Darling, it's wonderful for you and your lovely date to join us."

"Uh, yeah," I said.

Aunt Daria grabbed a champagne flute from a passing tray and sipped it before screwing up her face in disgust and dumping the contents in a potted plant. "Who drinks this drivel?"

"Did you say drivel?" Diego asked.

"Sam taught me fancy words so I could blend in." Aunt Daria screwed up her face in annoyance.

"Well, we must act dignified with this pretentious shit." Uncle Ryden shrugged.

"Darlings! It's so great to see you!" Sofie exclaimed before air-kissing Mom and Aunt Daria.

Odin held a flute but didn't drink from it. Instead, he watched the room while chatting with Dad and Uncle Ryden. Diego and I introduced Marissa and Eden to Sofie and Odin. Sofie talked with Eden and Marissa while Mom and Aunt Daria spoke.

A few minutes later, Eden's sister approached us with a champagne flute like she was all that and a bag of chips. She wasn't. "Oh, Eden. It's so lovely you decided to grace us with your presence."

I slipped an arm around Eden's waist and held her, supporting her.

"Well, Mom and Dad invited me." Eden shrugged.

The adults watched with curiosity but said nothing. Diego and Marissa stayed silent.

"Only because they pity you." Mia's lips curled into a cruel smile.

"If that's what helps you sleep at night." Eden rolled her eyes.

We continued watching while Mia taunted Eden without Eden showing it affected her.

When Mia didn't get the reaction she wanted, she threw herself on the floor and screamed. "I can't believe you, Eden."

I leaned into Eden. "I can't believe anyone would believe your sister."

"Oh, just wait," Eden whispered.

Mia wailed and caused a scene as her parents came rushing to her aid. She told her parents how Eden treated her like shit and threw her to the ground. That didn't happen.
