Movie night and junk food

Eden

I can honestly say Aiden keeps his word when he says he'll do something. He ordered two pizzas and headed to the store for junk food with Diego, leaving Marissa and me alone.

"Is it weird the guys left us alone in their apartment while they made a junk food run?" Marissa asked.

"Nope, it gives us a perfect opportunity to snoop." I grinned.

"You read my mind."

We got up from our seats and checked out the guys' apartment. It was a typical guy's apartment except without posters of scantily clad women hanging on the walls. Even their bedrooms were basic. Where were all the guy things lying around?

We even checked the bathroom and found nothing that screamed I'm a guy!

Marissa and I stood in the hallway, debating what to do.

"I figured Aiden and Diego would have deep-hidden secrets lurking around," I mentioned. "It's such a disappointment that they don't."

"You seem to switch gears faster than Aiden, giving you whiplash. What happened to the girl with inner turmoil who thought life had ended?"

"Oh, that girl still exists." I raised my finger. "My brain is still trying to process the insanity in the past few weeks since I met Aiden again."

We walked back to the living room because it was better than standing in the hallway outside of the bathroom. Plus, I wanted to sit down on something soft, not the floor.

Marissa sat beside me on the couch. "What have you decided about Aiden? Are you giving him a chance?"

"Yeah, I am. It sounds weird, but I've grown accustomed to his silent and serious vibe. When he laughs, it shocks the hell out of me. I didn't realize he had so many teeth."

Marissa laughed. "You're something else, Eden. Only you would think of someone's dental work."

"A girl needs standards. I can't date a toothless guy. Well, not until I'm old. And he still needs to wear dentures."

Marissa roared with laughter.

What can I say? I prefer a guy to have all his teeth.

Diego and I swung by a 7-11 and grabbed snacks and Slurpees before grabbing the pizzas. Most guys would buy alcohol, but we weren't twenty-one and didn't drink. So, Slurpees it is.

After our excursion, we returned to the apartment and entered to find the girls sitting on the couch. If you knew these girls, they didn't sit on the couch the entire time we were gone. But we would sorely disappoint them since Diego, and I didn't have much here since he planned to attend college in the fall. I was right behind him since this time off from work gave me time to sort my shit. I still needed to finish my therapy sessions with Conner.

We set the pizza boxes, plastic shopping bags, and drink cartons of four Slurpees on the counter. The girls got up and checked out our haul.

"You got us Slurpees?" Eden asked, pointing at the extra-large frozen Cokes in the plastic cups with dome lids.

"Were you expecting something else like alcohol?" I asked.

Eden looked at me with a confused expression until realization smacked her in the face. "Oh, right. You're not legal to buy liquor."

"Thanks for the reminder. However, you're three years older than me." I smirked.

"Shit."

My lips twitched slightly as I chuckled. You want to remind me I'm not legal to buy alcohol. I'll remind you that you're robbing the cradle.
