After Jason got off the phone with Issac he and Hailey waited for the bus to get to the stop by Jason's apartment. They made small talk just enjoying each other's company. When they got off the bus Hailey and Jason walked to his apartment door.
"Alright I'll see you later then Jay." Hailey said but as she turned around Jason caught her wrist getting her attention before letting go.
"Hey Hailey if you want you could stay here tonight." Jason said as Hailey blushed lightly and was about to make a joke before she saw the look on Jason's face. It was one she'd seen many times before, and it was the expression he has when someone close to him could be in danger. That expression was basically reserved for Emily after all pretty much everyone else Jason knew could fight, but that expression was never for Hailey before. It made her happy cause it was the clearest indicator that he really did still care for her.
"Sure Jay. Let me text my parents and let them know. I'm sure Mao Ka Long can explain you're worried about me because of Nephilim." Hailey said as Jason's Express morphed to one of shock.
"How did you..." Jason started before being cut off by Hailey laughing.
"You really are an open book. At least to me." Hailey said as she let herself into Jason's apartment. Jason just smiled at the comment and went inside himself. Jason woke up the next morning to Hailey poking his face. Jason had slept on the couch and let Hailey sleep in his bed.
"Wake the hell up. I got breakfast ready." Hailey said as Jason sat up holding his head.
"When was the last time I had breakfast?" Jason mumbled under his breath. It was a valid question cause Jason didn't care for most breakfast foods, and normally didn't get hungry until around noon. As such he normally just skipped breakfast and had a big lunch. Hailey had made scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. She set 2 plates on the kitchen table and waited for Jason to join her. After a minute he got up and sat down to eat. He was shirtless and only wearing a pair of black shorts since that's what he went to sleep in.
The shirtlessness didn't bother Hailey since she'd seen him like that a good bit when they were dating. Every time Jason fought in the fight club he didn't wear a shirt. The 2 made small talk while they ate. Afterwards Jason brushed his teeth and got dressed. He wore a black tank top and socks with his shorts. Hailey was wearing one of Jason's black T-shirts and a pair of his shorts that were red. Since she hadn't planned on staying the night before she had to borrow his clothes.
The pair left for Chinatown and kept talking the entire way there. Jason was happier than he's been in a long time. He was talking to Hailey, he knew about who his dad is, he felt closer to Issac than ever since knowing the truth, and Emily was coming back from the hospital today. When the pair got into Chinatown they noticed something new. There were the locals who they both knew, but Jason also spotted some of Eiji and Amato's people in Chinatown.
"Wonder why they're here." Jason wondered aloud before spotting someone who would have an answer for his question. Izuki Nakamura was one of Eiji's top men, and Jason spotted him helping someone carry a couch into their house. Jason and Hailey walked up and Izuki smiled as he saw them approaching.
"Hey Jason. It's been a while." Izuki said as Jason smiled back.
"Yeah it has. What's going on though? There are so many of Eiji and Amato's men here." Jason asked as Izuki's eyes darkened.
"Minato forced Eiji out of the Harbor. Mao Ka Long is letting us stay here until we can take back what's ours. Amato's men got displaced by the bombs last night, and like he did with us Mao Ka Long is allowing them to stay in Chinatown." Izuki explained as Jason nodded in understanding. Mao Ka Long was compassionate for the most part so it made sense he'd take in Eiji and Amato's people. Jason said his goodbyes to Izuki and took Hailey home.
