Author’s Note: Welcome back y’all! We’re back at it with the follow-up to the party madness that's started. As always, enjoy!

=======================

You know how in moments of panic and danger, it’s said that time usually stands still.

Simone would beg to differ, for in this moment, things are moving, and quickly. There's an overwhelming but immediate shift of fear that takes over the atmosphere.

You don't know where to look or what to pay attention to, but you know you want to at least make it safely out of the environment you're in.

You learn about shootouts and the best options to protect yourself growing up, but it's like your mind goes completely blank when you're in that moment.

You're never truly prepared for the fear and panic that instantly takes hold of you.

Your heart is beating like a drum because you're not sure if you're actually going to come out of things in one piece.

Simone wouldn't wish these feelings on anyone, not even her worst enemy.

The sound of glass shattering rings loudly in Simone's ears.

“GET DOWN! EVERYBODY GET DOWN!” She hears security spring into action.

POW! POW! POW!

And it's louder this time, as if whoever it is has moved closer into the venue.

She sees Keisha drop to the ground to protect herself.

She's suddenly tackled onto the floor, the air knocked out of her lungs from the sudden movement.

Jordan is on top of her like a human shield, and she's in fear for his life, more than her own.

He's covering her head with his arm and using the rest of himself to cover whatever other parts of her he can.

“Are you okay?” He pants out, his breathing heavy. He's looking around them, but he takes a second to look her over and make sure she's not hit.

“I'm okay, baby.” She answers.

“Do not move, do you understand me?” He directs.

“I’m not, just, don't go anywhere.” She nods, grabbing a fist full of his shirt. She's scared he's going to try to run off and play hero.

It'd be the ideal thing to do, but she can't help but be selfish and make sure he's by her side for her sanity.

People are screaming and panicking around her, and she sees feet scurrying from her vantage point on the floor.

She's trying to keep her mind focused right now, but the shooting with JJ is running on replay in her head.

Her hands start trembling, and her throat feels tight, limited air getting into her lungs.

“Simone, look at me. Stay with me. I'd die right now before I let anything happen to you. You're going to be fine.” Jordan says from above her.

She doesn't respond, though, trying to stop the panic attack that she feels overtaking her.

POW! Another shot rings out, Simone feels herself jump at the sound. She glances over Jordan's shoulder, and she sees its security this time.

“One shooter. Female. Brunette. Around five foot six. She just threw the weapon down and ran. Follow her.” He whispers into his earpiece, running in whatever direction they've spotted the shooter.

It doesn't take much for Simone to put together who she believes it is.

“It's Nicole, Jordan.” Simone sighs out, defeated.
