That afternoon, Oscar got home earlier than usual and went straight to his room to change and lay down in bed. He didn't want to tell his mom why he got home so quickly and what happened at school today, so he chose to try to sleep. His friends had planned to go to the beach tomorrow since they had some days off, but Oscar refused the invitation, lying to them that he was going with his mom to visit his grandmother, Arina.
A few minutes later, a knock was heard at the front door, and Oscar heard his mother opening it. It didn't take long before she came into his room.
"Sweetie, your classmate is here to pick you up."
Oscar was confused and didn't understand why someone had come to pick him up when he had told his friends that he couldn't join them. He thought it must be Logan, with his stubbornness, who couldn't let him miss out on the weekend together.
"Who exactly came?" Oscar asked, bewildered.
Nicole answered quickly while pulling out Oscar's bag from the closet. "You have many classmates, and you've never let me meet any of them except Logan. How would I know which one it is?"
Oscar remained shocked. He was sure Logan was waiting at the door, but maybe it could be Fred or Arthur.
"Come on, Oscar! Stop wasting time and pack your things; you're making your classmate wait, and stop looking at me as if you're seeing me for the first time."
Nicole quickly helped Oscar pack his bag and hurried him out of the house, faster and faster. She was happy that her son was finally going out with someone instead of staying locked in his room. When Oscar reached the door, he froze when he saw who had come. Lando was standing in front of him with a big smile on his face.
"Are you ready to have some fun, Oscar?"
Nicole intervened before Oscar could protest. "He's all yours for the next few days. Have fun!" She pushed the Aussie out of the house, quickly shutting the door behind him.
"Lando... why did you tell my mom that we're leaving?" Oscar asked, embarrassed.
"Because we are. We're going to the mountain to relax a bit."
"I don't want to go to some cabin in the middle of the forest with your friends, where you'll all make fun of me!" Oscar protested.
"Oscar, I know I don't deserve it, but please... trust me. It'll be just the two of us, and if you tell me you want to go home... I promise I'll take you back as soon as possible."
Oscar hesitated for a moment but eventually gave in to the Brit's request, certain that he'd be back home sooner than either of them expected.
The first half of the journey was quiet until Lando decided to break the silence.
"Oscar...?" he whispered, just loud enough to be heard.
"Mmh..." Oscar slowly turned his gaze toward him.
Lando opened his mouth to say something, but the words wouldn't come out. The moment he caught Oscar's eyes, he felt that same sensation he always felt when he was around him. He couldn't explain why, but he always felt the need to hold Oscar close and never let go. Finally, he managed to tell the Australian that he couldn't remember what he wanted to say.
Oscar let his head fall against the car window. All of a sudden, he felt his eyes closing, and the road became blurrier and blurrier until everything went black.

A few hours later, Oscar woke up in a dark room. The sun had set, and the moonlight was shining faintly in the room. The bags Oscar had taken with him were next to the bed, open, and he realized he was now dressed in pajamas. He got out of bed and heard music coming from the living room. He stepped out of the room and saw Lando in the kitchen, trying to make dinner.
" Let me help you," Oscar spoke softly, taking the knife from Lando's hand. "Did you take me out of the car and put me in bed?"
"You were sleeping so peacefully. I didn't want to wake you, so I carried you to bed. I thought you'd be hungry, so I tried to cook something... but I don't think it was such a great idea." Lando's smile faded, and he lowered his head.
Silence fell between the two once again. "How about I finish up here, and you go set up a movie?"
A bit later, after they had eaten, Oscar sat next to Lando, and they started watching the movie together. Lando rested his head on Oscar's shoulder and quickly fell asleep. It didn't take long before Oscar allowed his body to fall over Lando's, dozing off with his head on Lando's chest.
