Oscar went to school with Lando's hoodie in his backpack. His alarm didn't go off in time, so he missed the bus and had to wait for the next one, which meant he didn't get to see Lando or his friends before class.
When Oscar arrived in class, he noticed that everyone was grouped together, talking among themselves. Gathering his courage, he walked over to Lando's group, who looked at him in surprise.
"I-I brought your hoodie back," Oscar's voice trembled, and everyone except Lando started laughing.
Alex was the first to speak. "Did you seriously give this little Australian runt your hoodie?"
Lando hesitated for a few minutes but then forced a laugh and said, "You really think I'd give him something I wear? Maybe you were dreaming, Oscar. You wish you could wear my clothes, don't you?"
Oscar didn't say anything. His eyes began to water as he sat down at his desk, pulling his hood over his head. Logan, Fred, and Arthur noticed and gathered around him.
"Oscar, what happened? Did that idiot Lando do something to you again?" Arthur asked.
"Nothing... but usually... it's Lando," Oscar replied with a trembling voice.
Feeling the tears starting to roll down his cheeks, Oscar quickly got up and ran to the bathroom. Logan asked Fred to follow him and make sure he was okay, while he and Arthur went to confront Lando.
"You know, Norris, just because half the class is scared of you, it doesn't mean you can bully whoever you want," Logan's voice grew louder as he spoke.
"Oh, did I make your friend cry? Why don't you go run after him?" Max chimed in with a mocking tone.
Lando said nothing. He looked at Logan for a few seconds but then chose to leave the classroom without telling his friends where he was going. He hurried to the bathroom, hoping to talk to Oscar alone, but he stopped at the door when he heard Oscar and Fred talking inside.
"Oscar... you should stay away from him if you know he's just going to mock you," Fred tried to warn him.
Lando, standing on the other side of the door, let his head fall gently against it, tears forming in his eyes as he heard Oscar's trembling voice.
"I didn't want to get between them, but Lando gave me his hoodie yesterday, and I wanted to return it..."
"I know you were trying to do something nice, Oscar, but Lando isn't the type to appreciate things like that. He might just be using you to look good in front of his friends."
At that moment, Fred took Oscar's hand and noticed the faint scars on his wrist. Fred stared at Oscar's hand, then looked at him in shock.
"Oscar, what are these?" Just then, Lando entered the bathroom, but before Fred could finish his sentence, he pushed Lando against the wall. Lando didn't resist or show any emotion as Fred slapped him across the face.
"This is all your fault, you idiot! If it weren't for you, Oscar wouldn't have tried to kill himself," Fred shouted. Hearing this, Lando quickly pushed the Dane aside and rushed over to Oscar.
Oscar was sitting on the floor, his knees pulled up to his chest, his head resting on them. Lando sat down beside him. "Why did you do this, Oscar?" he asked, tears in his eyes and his voice trembling.
Oscar hesitated for a moment. He gestured for Fred to leave them alone, and when his friend left, Oscar broke down. "You're always mocking me. I come to school and spend more time in the nurse's office than in class. Every night, I think about whether it would be better not to be here the next day, so I wouldn't feel the pain anymore, and the nurse wouldn't waste her time on me." Oscar's voice cracked as he broke down.
Lando was at a loss for words. He wanted to say how sorry he was, but he knew his words wouldn't be enough to make up for what he had put Oscar through. He wanted to cry with him, to hug him and tell him everything would be okay... but he couldn't. Lando got up and left, leaving Oscar to cry alone.
