The next morning rolled around slowly. I couldn't sleep again, the uneasy feeling that was haunting me. The sun finally did rise and now we were all stood packing our stuff into the vechiles.

"Everyone listen up. Those if you with C.B's were gunna be on channel 40. Let's keep the chatter down, okay? Now you got a problem, don't have a C.B, can't get a signal or anything at all you're gunna hit your horn one time. That'll stop the caravan. Any questions?" Shane's voice sounded

"Were- Were not going." Morales said with his head hung low. Why would they not want to stay with the group?

"We have family in Birmingham. We want to be with our people" Morales wife miranda said, holding her two children close

"You go on your own you won't have anyone to watch your back." I reminded them. I was worried for them.

"Well take the chance. I gotta do what's best for my family." Morales nodded

"You sure?" Rick asked

"We talked about it. We're sure."

"All right. Shane 357?" Rick said and shane nodded handing morales a gun and ammo

"Thank you all for everything." Morales said. Lori walked over to miranda pulling her into a hug while her two kids said goodbye to sophia and carl.

It was sad to see them leaving. They were a big part of the group and it would feel weird without them.

We all took one last look at the camp. We'd built relationships here. Built memories and trust. Built a community. It was hard to walk away.

I jumped into Shane's jeep and we were off. I watched as Morales and his family took a different turn before turning back to face shane

"All right?" shane asked and I nodded pulling out a gun from the glove compartment, checking to see how many bullet were loaded.

"Yeah we just need to be ready to face anything now. We could be driving straight to death at this point." I said

Halfway on the road to the C.D.C the RV pulled over. There was obviously a problem but it was the last thing we needed.

"I told you we'd never get far on that hose. I said I needed one from the cube van." I heard Dale say as me and Shane walked over

"Can you jury-rig it?" Rick asked

"That's all it's been so far. It's more duct tape then hose. I'm all out of duct tape." Dale said

"I see something up ahead. A gas station if we're lucky." shane offered and just as he did jacqui appeared from the RV

"Y'all Jim- it's bad. I don't think he can take anymore." she said. The look on her face explained it more then her words did. Jim was dying and we needed to act fast.

"Hey Rick, you want to hold down fort? I'll drive ahead, see what i can bring back." Shane asked turning to Rick who seemed lost on what to do now and simply nodded

"Yeah I'll come along too and back you up." I said to shane

"Y'all keep your eyes open now we'll be right back." Shane told them all before we both jumped back in the RV and drove to where the gas station may be.

It wasn't long till we got to the gas station which didn't seem to badly raided.

We both went separate ways to try and search faster. The thought of the C.D.C and Jim kept playing in my mind. I just can't see it working out. Everywhere the army had been brought down. I'd seen it myself in Atlanta. So even if Rick was right and they did try to protect the C.D.C there was a high chance they would have been brought down too. And even then. Even if the small chance that the C.D.C was still there would they even have a cure to help Jim? Would he even last till then?

I saw the hose we needed in the corner of my eye on top of a shelf. Just as i went to grab it and shout for shane a hand grabbed my wrist from the opposite side of the shelf. I let out a shout from shock before looking up to see a walker looking back at me, desperately trying to pull my arm so it could bite.

I couldn't get it off. It was desperate. I shouted again and just as i did shane jumped over the counter stabbing the walker through the brain.

"Malia! Are you okay?" he panicked rushing over to me. "It didn't get ya did it?"

"No just took me by surprise." i told him. He let out a breath of relief

"Look what i found." I smiled holding up the hose

"Thank god let's get back."

-

The worst had happened. Jim had realised he wasn't going to make it  Rick and shane were carrying him over to rest on a tree as he wanted. This poor man. He'd been through so much with losing his family and getting bit but now he was finally getting the peace he wished so deserved for.

"Another damn tree." Jim chuckled thinking about the time we'd tied him to one.

"Hey Jim. You know it doesn't have to be this." Shane said kneeling down by the man.

"No it's good. The breeze feels nice." Jim smiled again. Shane just nodded and walked back to the rest of the group.

"Just close your eyes sweetie. Don't fight.." Jacqui told him as she went to say her goodbye, kissing him on the cheek

"Jim do you want this?" Rick asked holding out a gun

"No. You'll need it. I'm okay. I'm okay." Jim nodded

"Oh hey. Thanks for fighting for us." Dale said softly and jim just nodded again.

The group started to disperse back to the cars. I walked over to Jim sitting next to him, looking out at the trees with him.

"Your strong you know. Really strong." I said to him

"I just want to be at peace now. My fights over." he smiled and i just simply nodded "Hey promise me something?"

"What's that?" I asked confused

"Keep fighting. Stay alive for me yeah? Just live for me." He said quietly

"I promise." I squeezed his hand before standing up again "Well see you soon Jim."

"See you again Lia"

I swear Jim's death is one of the saddest. He went through all of that with his family and in the end was alone. Rip Jim
