Kyle's POV:
I was walking down a hallway, dragging my cleaning cart with me. I saw some scientists and guards minding their own business.
It was the same, normal day as usual. Nothing really happened last week. No events, no tragedies, no accidents, or anything else.
I hope it stays the same for now and in the future, as I've been through enough of them and am tired of it.
I sighed as I thought about what my parents would think of me when I've been gone for so long, not even paying them a visit because I was… VERY busy. So busy that I had to stay in an hotel set up for employees at my workplace.
I walked out of the hallway and arrived at the place I had to clean: a garden.
It was very messy, but I'm not surprised because there have been a lot of experiments with those Gootrax creatures lately. Laminax has been trying to hire a lot of people, which is probably why all these sudden experiments were done mostly to teach new trainee scientists their basics.
I also knew they used humans for experimenting, but… Did they really sign up for it?
I always asked myself that, as I always saw them looking scared, worried, or nervous whenever I secretly took a peek at the experiments done by those scientists. The guards also seemed to treat them badly, often threatening the subjects if they didn't listen to their orders.
But, enough thinking. I quickly walked up to the mess while looking at the window of the garden.
There were three scientists outside and two guards walking out of the room while carrying something. Two of the scientists were talking; one seemed to be a new scientist, obviously a trainee, because the lab coat he was wearing seemed… flipped.
The reception lady told me his name when we were talking about new hires. What was his name again? Waysen? Jason? I don't know.
The other one talking to him now is a scientist wearing shades, and they look like a jerk. I think I know him. If I'm correct, he's the senior scientist. His name? Dr… Uhhh… Gosh, I really suck at remembering names, even when he's famous around here...
And then there's the last one, just a regular-looking scientist noting something in their notebook. I don't know anything about them.
The guards are walking out of the room carrying… someone… or something… that looks like a Gootraxian. It seems unconscious. A Plantix, if I'm correct.
I looked at them for a moment before the senior scientist grabbed the trainee's arm and dragged him somewhere, looking excited.
The last one simply stopped writing in their notebook and went somewhere else.
I looked at the mess in the room. There was a large pile of green goo covering some of the garden floor, and there were also a lot of leaves and some pink flowers scattered around.
I walked up to the goo, taking a closer look and examining it. I took out gloves from my pocket, put them on, and then touched the goo, making sure it was not what I was expecting...
... Unsurprisingly, the goo on my glove started to spread. I made a bored expression before taking off the glove effortlessly and throwing it into the pile of goo. The glove seemed to melt and become part of the goo.
I stood up, took out the mop from the cleaning cart, and began mopping the floor until there was no trace of the goo left.
After mopping up the goo, I looked at the pink flowers and leaves. I put my mop back in the cleaning cart. Then, I decided to look for a broom inside the room.
Luckily, there was one leaning on a tree that grows peaches, which… all employees were told not to eat. I grabbed the broom and proceeded to gather the flowers and leaves together. After that, I put them inside an empty soil bag I found in the room.
After I was done, I sat on the floor next to my cleaning cart, leaning against the wall, taking a break.
"Gosh… I just realized, I haven't drunk anything since this morning… Now my throat feels like a whole Sahara desert…" I say.
I looked around, hoping there was something I could—oh, sweet! A vending machine. I stood up and walked up to it. Thank God it still had some Bloxy Cola inside. I inserted a Dollar and took the drink that came out of the machine. I got a Bloxy Cola and… a… Witchbrew…?
I looked at the Witchbrew, confused.
'Where the hell did this come from?'
After a moment, I decided to keep the Witchbrew for later. I sat back on the floor, opened the can lid, and drank the Bloxy Cola. It was very cold and… Ugh… too sweet. Feeling hydrated again, I stood up and continued going from room to room, looking for messes to clean. But strangely, there were none.
I checked the time, only to see that it was my break time. Great! I decided to go to the reception room to get to the hotel.
While passing the flooded aquarium room, I saw the trainee and senior scientist again. I overheard their conversation a bit; the senior one was explaining the room and the shark's fin that roamed the water.
The trainee looked a bit traumatized. Maybe it was because of the experiments in the garden I cleaned earlier...
Once I arrived at the reception room, I went into the elevator and got inside. I pressed the button for the hotel site and then leaned against the lift's wall to wait. The lift doors started to close, and the machine began moving upward. I kept waiting and waiting.
...
The lift finally stopped, and its doors opened.
What the hell?! Did I just have to wait 10 minutes for that kind of ride?! That lift sure needs a checkup; the engine is running like crap.
I walked out of the lift, placed my cleaning supplies in the janitor's closet, and proceeded to look for my room in the apartment.
Even after working here for several months, I still don't fully know the hotel areas, so I always take quite a long time to find my room.
After, like, another 10 minutes, I finally found my room. I pulled out my Laminax-ID card to open the door and went inside.
Ah, home sweet home. I quickly hopped onto the bed, slowly closed my eyes, and finally took a peaceful nap.
