Li Xiang saw that Lu Jinzhu was still standing in place and thought he might be upset about what happened earlier.

Li Xiang had been with Lu Jinzhu for two years and had a good understanding of his temperament and personality. If he had to sum it up in one word, it would be: aloof!

Except for work, Li Xiang had never seen him show any interest in anything else or in people. The most important thing was that Lu Jinzhu had a severe obsession with cleanliness.

Whenever he had to shake hands with someone during meetings outside, he would wash his hands several times upon returning home, and the soap at home was used up particularly fast.

The brief encounter with Dong Jiaojiao earlier, though only lasting a few seconds, had already exceeded his usual tolerance threshold.

Li Xiang thought it was reasonable to assume that Lu Jinzhu might be displeased by this.

"Director Lu, are you alright?" Li Xiang asked carefully again.

The redness on Lu Jinzhu's face faded. Thinking about what Dong Jiaojiao had said earlier, he turned to Li Xiang and instructed, "Xiao Li, when you have time, check what Lu Yao has been up to recently."

"Got it." Li Xiang, having heard Dong Jiaojiao's words, naturally understood why.

From what Li Xiang knew, Lu Jinzhu rarely went back to the Lu family except during holidays and never asked about the Lu family's affairs.

Even when he did go back, it was only to say a few words to the old master Lu and have a meal before returning to work.

In the two years Li Xiang had been with Lu Jinzhu, he had never seen him stay overnight at the Lu family home, even during the New Year when he worked alone at the unit.

Well, scientists, especially top genius scientists like Lu Jinzhu, having some quirks is understandable. Their brains are simply different from those of ordinary people, which is why they are so smart.

Moreover, Lu Jinzhu was known for being a workaholic, always immersed in the laboratory and at the unit, so it wasn't surprising that he didn't like going home. Li Xiang was very understanding.

Dong Jiaojiao returned to the family compound but did not rush upstairs. Instead, she went to the first-floor yard to hang out her clothes.

Wang Cuihua was downstairs, enjoying the cool air with her child and chatting with other military wives about recent gossip.

Seeing Dong Jiaojiao, Wang Cuihua noticed she looked a bit different today and asked, "Xiao Dong, why do you look so radiant today? Your skin seems to have become a lot whiter."

Dong Jiaojiao replied while hanging her clothes, "Sister Cuihua, you always like to tease me. I just went to the bathhouse for a bath.

My skin was already white when I was a child. I used to work in the fields every day in the countryside, so I got a bit tanned.

Now that I'm in the city and mostly stay at home, my skin has naturally become whiter."

Cai Xiuqin chimed in, "That's true. Xiao Dong is only 18, hasn't had a child yet, and is still as fresh as a young green onion."

Everyone laughed upon hearing this.

Dong Jiaojiao's eyes darted around as she pretended to be distressed, "Don't laugh at me, sisters. Speaking of having a baby, I'm quite troubled!
