The confusion

When the news of Carly's murder broke, everyone was confused. Her dad found the pool covered when he returned to collect Carly. This was unusual because she would always wait for him before covering the pools. When he checked in the changing rooms and couldn't find Carly, he knew there was only one place she could be.

Initially, forensics thought that this could have been a suicide because Carly was very close with Charlotte and she had just suffered her loss. However, when they assessed the scene properly and tested it out, they found that there was no way Carly could have pulled the sheet over the pool while she was inside. The way the cover connected was impossible to do while underneath it.

Vivian and Sara immediately connected Carly's murder to Clodagh and Charlotte. They were worried that they now had a serial killer on their hands. Little did they know it was much deeper than that.

In Carly's autopsy it was found that she had drowned in a matter of minutes of being submerged underwater. They could tell that she didn't panic, if she did she would have drowned faster. They knew she had drowned and wasn't just left in the water because her lungs were filled with water and she had sunk to the bottom of the pool. There was no other trauma to her body, she hadn't been forced into the water so it was unlikely she knew who her killer was before she died.

Everyone was shocked at Carly's murder. She was only seventeen and she didn't have any enemies. She was sometimes rude to people but there wasn't a single person who hated Carly, or at least that's how it seemed. Someone hated Carly enough to do this to her. Someone wanted her dead.

When Vivian and Sara went and broke the news to everyone they all reacted in complete shock and distress. Reece immediately shut off emotionally, he felt empty. Carly was like a daughter to him and he felt like he had failed her. Marjorie felt the same. She had been there the entire time Carly worked at the nursery, she was there helping her on the first day of her apprenticeship. She was always there for Carly and she was devastated by her loss.

Mia was staying with Reece and Marjorie so she was also informed when they were. While she wasn't very close with Carly, she really saw herself in her. She was just like her when she was younger. Her Charlotte loved Carly. She was upset but she was glad that Charlotte wasn't alone in the afterlife.

Autumn and Winter heard the news and immediately went quiet. Neither of them were the kind of people who showed public emotions, they never got upset in front of other people, but Vivian and Sara could tell immediately that this news hit them like a ton of bricks. Autumn had grown really protective over Carly because she was always being hit on inappropriately by the parents. Winter was really close with Carly, she always laughed at his dad jokes.

Sorscha was visibly upset when she heard the news. Three people she was close with had died in such a short period of time. She just put her head in her hands and sobbed. Vivian and Sara didn't want to leave her alone like that. “Sorscha, is there anyone we can call to come and stay with you for the time being?” without hesitation she responded “Agatha.”

Agatha was happy to come and be with Sorscha. She understood how hard this was for her. She really saw herself in Sorscha and she was very protective of her as a result. She was informed about Carly when she arrived to comfort Sorscha. She took one look at Sorscha crying and immediately sat beside her and let her cry into her embrace.

Jodie, Deliah, Eric and Chef were also informed about Carly's death since they worked together. Jodie was her usual dumb self, she barely understood what was going on. Deliah was still her psychotic self and she said “Oh poor Carly, I will try and trap her soul in a doll.” with her usual creepy smile. Chef was an emotionless woman and she didn't really care about anyone but she did express condolences for her loss. Eric was upset though. He didn't have any friends of his own and Carly was the closest he had to that, even though she found him weird.

The devastation of Carly's death was felt by everyone, even the killer.
