Sorscha panicked. Her wife was being rushed to hospital and she didn't have her car to get to her. She raced inside and to the office. She was hyperventilating and scared. “Sorscha, what ever is the matter?” Autumn said, concerned, “What happened my love?” said Marjorie worried. Sorscha couldn't get the words out. She was trying to calm herself down to tell them what was happening but she couldn't stop hyperventilating. Eventually she finally found the words. “Clodagh has been taken to hospital, in critical condition.” Before Sorscha could even finish her sentence Autumn had already grabbed her keys. “Come on quick, I'll take you.” She said as she led Sorscha to her car.

The short car ride felt like a lifetime. Sorscha was struggling to control her breathing and Autumn was racing to the hospital. She didn't care about the speed limits, she had to get Sorscha to Clodagh. The atmosphere in the car was frantic.

When Autumn pulled up to the hospital, Sorscha didn't even wait for the car to fully stop before she opened the car door and jumped out. Autumn went to find a parking spot as Sorscha ran up to the reception desk. The receptionist had beautiful green hair, her name was Courtney. She asked Sorscha what she needed and as soon as she said her wife's name, Clodagh Doyle, her face dropped.

“She's in an awful state, are you sure you want to see her? They're desperately trying to keep her heart beating.” Sorscha didn't care, that was her wife. She had to see her. She promised in sickness and in health. Courtney looked at her sympathetically and led her to the room herself. Normally they would just let them walk alone but she wanted to be there in case Sorscha freaked out. She did.

She saw her wife surrounded by paramedics who were desperately trying to keep her heart beating and get her stable. She looked on in horror as her wife was being assisted to breathe, as other doctors were trying to decipher the severity of her injuries. Then suddenly, the monitors beeped. Flatline.

The medical professionals tried desperately to resuscitate her. Sorscha started sobbing. She was in shock at what she was witnessing. They tried their best. Sorscha suddenly heard the words she was dreading. “Time of death 19:23”

Finally, Sorscha was allowed to go over to her wife. She carefully held her hand and stroked her hair. She knew she couldn't feel this but she didn't want to admit she was gone. She was shaking as her fingers brushed through her hair. Her tears falling down onto the bed beside Clodagh. Through her sobs she managed to say “It's okay babe, I will love you forever. I'll be with you again before you know it.” Sorscha then gave Clodagh one final kiss.

Autumn reached the door and she quickly realised what had just happened. In a matter of minutes Sorscha had lost her entire world. Autumn had a strict no physical affection rule but in this moment, she knew Sorscha needed it. She opened her arms for her and Sorscha soon found herself sobbing into Autumn's shoulder. “Why Clodagh?” she choked out, “Why did it have to be her?”

Wheels spun maniacally
The impact was fast
The death was not sudden
But death came at last

Sorscha was crying
Left completely bereft
What has this started
And who will be left
