In a private office lined with books and mementos of a political career, Vice President William Bennett sat across from Ethan Collins. The room was dimly lit, creating a serious atmosphere.

“Ethan, I appreciate you coming on such short notice,” William said, his voice steady. “As you know, my daughter, Sophia, is starting at Princeton University this fall. I need you to keep an eye on her, but you must blend in as just another student.”

Ethan, a former military officer now transitioning into private security, nodded. “Understood. But there are a few things I need to know. How much will I be paid for this, and what exactly am I expected to do?”

William leaned forward, handing Ethan a folder. “You’ll be compensated well, and your primary task is to ensure Sophia’s safety while integrating into her university life. She’ll be unaware of your true role. I chose you because you’re young and single, which will help you blend in more easily and focus entirely on this mission.”

Ethan glanced through the folder, taking in the details. “Got it. What’s her schedule?”

William handed him a document with Sophia’s class schedule and other pertinent information. “She’ll be majoring in law, as will you. You’ll be in the same classes, which will give you the perfect opportunity to keep an eye on her while maintaining your cover.”

Ethan studied the schedule, nodding to himself. “I’ll make sure to stay close and befriend her. Anything else I should know?”

“Just that she’s eager to experience university life as a normal student,” William said. “So, while you’re there to protect her, try to maintain a genuine friendship. She’s a bright young woman who’s been under a lot of pressure. Your role is to support and watch over her discreetly.”

The following week, Princeton University buzzed with the arrival of new students. Among them was Ethan Collins, who carried himself with the quiet confidence of someone who had seen much and was ready for a new chapter. As he navigated the campus, he couldn’t help but feel the weight of his dual role.

In one of the bustling law classrooms, Sophia Bennett walked in with a mixture of excitement and nerves. She scanned the room, searching for a seat, and her gaze landed on a young man with a friendly smile who appeared to be settling into his place. Ethan, already briefed on the situation, had made sure to sit near her.

Sophia took a seat next to him, her eyes drawn to his approachable demeanor. “Hi, I’m Sophia. I’m new here.”

Ethan turned, offering a warm smile. “Nice to meet you, Sophia. I’m Ethan. I’m new too.”

Sophia couldn’t help but notice how attractive Ethan was—tall, with an easy charm that made her feel comfortable. “Are you studying law too?”

Ethan nodded. “Yeah, I am. It’s a tough program, but I’m looking forward to it. What brought you to Princeton?”

Sophia smiled, feeling a bit of relief at the friendly face. “I’ve always wanted to study law, particularly civil rights. It’s important to me to make a difference.”

Ethan’s interest was piqued. “That’s admirable. I’m here for similar reasons. Maybe we can help each other out as we navigate the program.”

Sophia’s eyes sparkled with appreciation. “That sounds great. It’s nice to know someone else who’s passionate about it.”

As the class began, Ethan and Sophia exchanged a few more pleasantries. The connection was genuine, and Ethan’s mission to protect Sophia while keeping his cover seemed to have started on the right foot. Little did they know, their interactions would soon blur the lines between duty and genuine friendship, setting the stage for a complex and intriguing journey.
