Sophia paced around her apartment, her mind racing with thoughts about her conversation with Ethan. After a deep breath, she picked up her phone and dialed her mom’s number. The call connected, and her mother’s familiar voice greeted her on the other end.

“Hi, Mom,” Sophia began, trying to keep her tone steady.

“Hi, sweetie. How are you?” her mom asked, her voice filled with warmth.

“I need to talk to you about something important,” Sophia said, her heart pounding. “You know Ethan, the friend we had dinner with? He’s the one Dad hired as the undercover bodyguard.”

There was a brief pause on the other end. “Oh,” her mom said, a hint of surprise in her voice. “I didn’t realize it was him. And?”

Sophia took a deep breath. “I like him, Mom. He told me he likes me too. And… well, we… we did it. I’m really sorry for not waiting until marriage. I just felt I needed to tell you.”

Her mom’s voice softened with understanding. “Sophia, it’s okay. How was it?”

Sophia hesitated, then replied, “It was… intense. I didn’t expect it to happen like that, but it did. I’m sorry for not waiting, but I wanted to be honest with you.”

Her mom’s response was calm and reassuring. “Don’t worry about it. I didn’t wait for marriage either, and your dad didn’t. So don’t stress about it. It’s a personal choice, and what matters is how you feel about it and the person you’re with.”

Sophia felt a wave of relief wash over her. “Thank you for understanding. I didn’t think you’d be this accepting, especially after everything that’s happened.”

Her mom chuckled softly. “I didn’t think it would be him, but I’m glad you’re honest with me. Relationships can be complicated, and it’s important to communicate and be true to yourself. If Ethan makes you happy, then that’s what matters.”

Sophia smiled, grateful for her mother’s support. “I appreciate it, Mom. I just needed to share this with you and make sure you know what’s going on. I hope this doesn’t change how you feel about me.”

“Not at all,” her mom reassured her. “I love you, Sophia, and I’m here for you no matter what. Just make sure you’re taking care of yourself and making choices that feel right for you.”

“Thanks, Mom,” Sophia said, feeling a sense of comfort and acceptance. “I’ll talk to you soon.”

As they ended the call, Sophia felt a weight lifted off her shoulders. She knew that navigating her feelings for Ethan and the complexities of her father’s actions wouldn’t be easy, but having her mom’s support made the journey a little less daunting.
