The next morning, the atmosphere in the Kim household was heavy with unspoken worries. Taehyung had barely slept, his face pale and eyes haunted by the same dark circles that had followed him for years. The brothers exchanged worried glances over breakfast, unsure of how to help him when he seemed so trapped in his own fears.

Jin, ever the caretaker, placed a bowl of rice in front of Taehyung, who hesitated before taking a small bite. His movements were mechanical, as if he was trying to force himself to eat out of obligation rather than hunger. The memory of the previous night still hung over him like a dark cloud, and every time he met his brothers’ eyes, he felt a stab of guilt.

Jungkook watched his younger brother carefully, his heart aching with the desire to ease Taehyung’s pain. But every time he tried to get closer, Taehyung would flinch or shy away, the old trauma still casting its long shadow over their relationship.

The day passed slowly, each brother busy with their respective work. Jungkook had a photoshoot, Namjoon and Hoseok were at the college, and Yoongi was tied up with meetings. Jimin stayed home, working alongside Jin to try and create a more comforting environment for Taehyung. But no matter what they did, Taehyung seemed to drift further away, lost in his thoughts.

That evening, the brothers gathered in the living room, determined to talk about what had happened. They needed to understand how deep Taehyung’s trauma ran if they were ever going to help him. Jin was the first to speak, his voice gentle but firm.

“We need to talk about Taehyung,” he said, looking around at his younger brothers. “Last night was hard for him, and it’s clear that there are things we still don’t know about what he went through.”

Jungkook, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, finally spoke up. “Hyung, he’s so scared… It’s like he’s still living in that nightmare. I don’t know how to reach him.”

Namjoon nodded, his expression serious. “We have to be patient, but we also need to understand what he’s been through. Maybe if he knows that we’re aware of his pain, it’ll help him trust us more.”

Jin sighed, running a hand through his hair. “He’s been through unimaginable horrors. We can’t rush him, but we can’t let him continue to suffer in silence either.”

Hoseok, who had been fidgeting with his hands, suddenly spoke up. “I’ve been thinking… What if we ask him about it? Not push him, but just let him know that he can talk to us when he’s ready?”

Jimin nodded in agreement. “We need to create a safe space for him, somewhere he knows he won’t be judged or punished. We should start by reassuring him that he’s not a burden.”

As they discussed their approach, the door to the living room slowly creaked open. Taehyung stood there, his eyes wide and his hands trembling. He had heard bits and pieces of their conversation, and his heart was pounding in his chest.

“I-I’m sorry…,” Taehyung stuttered, his voice barely above a whisper. “I didn’t mean to eavesdrop…”

All eyes turned to him, but instead of the anger or disappointment he feared, he saw only concern and love in their expressions. Jungkook was the first to move, quickly crossing the room to stand in front of Taehyung.

“hyung,” Jungkook said softly, crouching down to meet his brother’s eyes. “You don’t have to apologize. We were just talking about how much we care about you. We want to help you, but we don’t know how unless you tell us.”

Tears welled up in Taehyung’s eyes. He wanted to believe them, wanted to trust that they wouldn’t hurt him, but the memories of his past were too powerful. He felt like he was standing on the edge of a cliff, unsure whether to step back or take a leap of faith.

“I-I’m scared…,” Taehyung admitted, his voice shaking. “I’m scared that… that you’ll change, that you’ll hurt me like they did…”

Jungkook’s heart broke at his words, and he gently took Taehyung’s hands in his. “hyung, we would never hurt you. You’re our brother, and we love you. Whatever happened before, it’s not going to happen again. You’re safe here.”

Taehyung looked down, his tears spilling over. “But I’m so broken… I don’t know how to be normal. I don’t know how to live without being afraid…”

Jin stood up and walked over, placing a comforting hand on Taehyung’s shoulder. “You don’t have to be ‘normal,’ Tae. You just have to be you, and we’ll help you every step of the way. You’re not broken. You’re strong for surviving what you went through.”

Taehyung felt overwhelmed by their kindness, and the walls he had built around his heart began to crumble, just a little. He was still terrified, still haunted by his past, but in that moment, he realized that maybe—just maybe—he didn’t have to face his fears alone.

The brothers surrounded Taehyung, each of them offering quiet words of comfort and support. It was the first time in years that Taehyung felt something other than fear. For the first time, he felt hope.

And so, with tears in his eyes and a small, tentative smile on his lips, Taehyung allowed himself to be embraced by his brothers, taking the first step on the long road to healing.
