The morning sun filtered through the curtains as Taehyung slowly woke up. He rubbed his eyes and sat up in bed, feeling a little more rested than the day before. The previous evening with Jungkook had been calming, and for once, he hadn’t been plagued by nightmares. But as he prepared to face the day, the familiar anxiety began to creep back in, a constant companion that refused to let him be.

Taehyung hesitated before leaving his room. The house was quiet, and for a moment, he allowed himself to hope that maybe today would be better. He made his way down the hall, following the faint sounds of voices coming from the living room.

As he approached the room, he noticed that the atmosphere felt different—tense, serious. Taehyung peered into the living room and saw several unfamiliar men sitting with Yoongi, deep in conversation. The men were dressed in business suits, and they spoke in low, hushed tones, their expressions unreadable.

Yoongi, who usually wore a calm and collected demeanor, seemed more serious than usual as he discussed something with the men. The words "agreement," "contract," and "purchase" floated through the air, catching Taehyung’s attention. He stood frozen in the doorway, his heart beginning to race as his mind started to draw connections that terrified him.

“Are they… buying something?” Taehyung thought, his breath quickening. “Are they… buying me?”

His thoughts spiraled out of control as he watched the scene unfold. The memory of his past family, the way they had sold him to strangers, flooded back with a vengeance. His hands began to shake, and he felt the familiar grip of panic tightening around his chest.

The trauma from his past twisted the reality in front of him. In Taehyung’s mind, it was as if time had rewound, and he was back in that nightmare, where he was nothing more than an object to be sold, used, and discarded. The idea that the Kim brothers—these men who had shown him kindness—might be planning to do the same to him was too much to bear.

Taehyung stepped into the room, his legs trembling beneath him. The men looked up, surprised by his sudden appearance. Yoongi turned his head, noticing Taehyung standing there, pale and wide-eyed.

“Taebear?” Yoongi called out, his voice gentle but concerned.

But Taehyung was too consumed by his fear to respond rationally. He dropped to his knees, bowing his head low in front of the men, his hands clenched together in desperation. “P-Please, sir… I’m sorry… I-I’m so sorry…”

The men exchanged confused glances, unsure of how to react. Yoongi’s brow furrowed with concern as he quickly stood up and approached Taehyung.

“bear, what are you doing? Get up, it’s okay,” Yoongi said, reaching out to help him stand.

But Taehyung flinched away, tears streaming down his face as he continued to apologize. “P-Please don’t sell me, sir… I’ll be good… I won’t be a burden… Please don’t send me away… I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”

Yoongi’s heart sank as he realized what was happening. Taehyung wasn’t just scared—he was reliving his past trauma, thinking they were going to sell him maybe like his previous family had done. Yoongi knelt down beside Taehyung, trying to catch his tear-filled eyes.

“Tae, listen to me,” Yoongi said softly, trying to keep his voice steady. “No one is selling you. You’re not a burden to us. You’re our brother, and we love you. I promise, you’re safe here.”

But Taehyung’s mind was clouded with fear and panic. The sight of the men, the businesslike atmosphere—it was too similar to the horrors of his past. He shook his head frantically, unable to believe Yoongi’s words. “N-No… they’ll pay you, won’t they? I-I’ll do whatever you want, just please don’t make me go with them…”

Yoongi felt a deep sadness in his chest. He turned to the men, who were watching the scene unfold with uncomfortable expressions. “Can you give us a moment?” Yoongi asked, his tone polite but firm.

The men nodded, quickly gathering their things and excusing themselves from the room. Once they were gone, Yoongi turned his full attention back to Taehyung.

“Tae, it’s okay. They’re gone. No one is going to hurt you,” Yoongi said gently, placing a comforting hand on Taehyung’s shoulder. “Look at me, baby. It’s just us now. You’re safe.”

Taehyung looked up, his tear-filled eyes meeting Yoongi’s. His vision was blurred with tears, and he struggled to breathe through the sobs that shook his body. “I… I don’t want to be sold… Please… I don’t want to…”

Yoongi’s expression softened, and he pulled Taehyung into a protective embrace, holding him close. “You’re not going anywhere, Tae. You’re staying right here with us. I swear to you, we would never do something like that. You’re safe.”

Taehyung clung to Yoongi, his body trembling as he tried to process the words. The fear was still there, gnawing at him, but Yoongi’s embrace was warm and reassuring. It took time, but gradually, the terror began to ebb, replaced by exhaustion and a fragile sense of safety.

Yoongi held Taehyung until he felt the younger boy’s sobs subside. “Let’s go find Jin-hyung, okay?” Yoongi suggested, his voice gentle. “He’ll help you feel better.”

Taehyung nodded weakly, too drained to do anything but follow Yoongi’s lead. As they walked through the house, Yoongi kept a protective arm around him, making sure Taehyung knew he wasn’t alone.

When they found Jin, Yoongi quickly explained what had happened, leaving out the more traumatic details to avoid overwhelming Taehyung further. Jin’s face grew serious as he listened, and he immediately moved to comfort Taehyung.

“Tae, you’re safe here with us,” Jin said softly, guiding Taehyung to sit down. “We’re your family, and we’ll protect you, always.”

Taehyung nodded, but his eyes were still clouded with fear and doubt. The trauma of his past was a shadow that hung over him, and despite the brothers’ reassurances, he struggled to believe in the safety they offered.

As Jin made Taehyung some tea to help calm his nerves, Yoongi sat beside him, his hand resting gently on Taehyung’s back. “We’ll get through this together, Tae. We’ll prove to you that we’re not like them. You’re our brother, and we love you.”

Taehyung looked at Yoongi, his eyes filled with a mix of gratitude and uncertainty. The fear of being hurt again was still strong, but the kindness and warmth of his brothers were beginning to plant seeds of hope deep within his heart.

For now, Taehyung would hold onto that hope, even if it was just a tiny flicker. He would try to believe that maybe, just maybe, this family was different.
