The fourth day of Georgia's LA adventure began with a refreshing change of pace. Instead of a leisurely breakfast and a walk along the beach, Kadence had planned something a bit more active. The sun had just started to peek over the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow over the city, as they made their way down to the lobby of Kadence's building.
"Ready for a little morning workout?" Kadence asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Georgia, already dressed in athletic wear, smiled in return. "I'm always up for a bit of exercise. What do you have in mind?"
Kadence led her outside to where two sleek bicycles were waiting. "I thought we'd bike down to Santa Monica Pier this morning. It's a beautiful ride, and the weather is perfect for it."
"Sounds great," Georgia replied, hopping onto one of the bikes. "Lead the way."
They set off through the early morning streets of LA, the cool breeze brushing against their faces as they pedalled along the designated bike path. The city was still waking up, with only a few cars on the road and the occasional jogger or fellow cyclist sharing the route.
As they rode, the cityscape gradually gave way to the picturesque views of the coastline. The ocean stretched out beside them, glistening under the soft morning light. Georgia couldn't help but admire how the city transitioned from urban to coastal so seamlessly, the air becoming fresher and the scenery more serene the closer they got to the beach.
"This is incredible," Georgia called out as they reached a particularly beautiful stretch of the ride, where the bike path wound its way along a cliff overlooking the ocean.
"I knew you'd like it," Kadence replied, glancing over at her with a grin. "It's one of my favourite ways to start the day."
After a scenic ride that left them both energised and exhilarated, they arrived at the iconic Santa Monica Pier. They parked their bikes and took a moment to catch their breath, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore providing a soothing backdrop.
"Next stop, the Santa Monica Aquarium," Kadence announced, leading Georgia toward the entrance of the small but well-loved aquarium tucked beneath the pier.
Inside, they were greeted by a world of colourful marine life. The aquarium was filled with vibrant exhibits showcasing the diverse creatures that called the Pacific Ocean home. From jellyfish gently floating in their tanks to sea stars clinging to the rocks, there was plenty to marvel at.
Kadence and Georgia wandered through the exhibits, stopping to read about the different species and watching the various sea creatures with fascination.
"I've always loved aquariums," Georgia said as they observed a group of playful sea otters. "There's something so calming about being surrounded by water and marine life."
"Same here," Kadence agreed. "It's like stepping into another world. Plus, it's nice to support places that are dedicated to education and conservation."
They spent a while longer exploring the aquarium, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and the chance to learn more about the ocean and its inhabitants. By the time they left, the pier had begun to fill up with the usual crowds of tourists and locals alike, all eager to enjoy the day.
With the aquarium visit behind them, Kadence led Georgia down to the beach. They found a quieter spot away from the main hub of activity and laid out their towels, ready to relax and soak up the sun.
"This is what I've been looking forward to," Georgia said with a contented sigh as she settled onto her towel, the warmth of the sun immediately enveloping her.
