The Maya diaries: A Tale of Friendship and Growth

The Long Awaited Day

     "Fuck" I said under my breath as I jumped off my bed to the floor gasping for air. Oh my God why did that just happen. I shook my head vigorously trying to shake of the thought and memory of what had just happened.

     I stood up from the floor already woken up by that dream or should I call it a nightmare, I don't even know what to call it but all I can say is it's way too early and that's just messed up.

     I quickly brushed my teeth, took a long warm shower and got dressed into my school uniform, then the thought came to my mind. Where are Lucas and Levi? They were supposed to be home yesterday. Lucas had been planning to go on a vacation even before the summer holiday started and he chose one of us to go with him but unfortunately for me, he chose Levi.

     As soon as the holiday started Lucas booked a flight for Himself and Levi to go to Paris for a vacation because he had been earning a lot lately from his Soccer career and he decided he would spoil us with most of the money..... So he has been doing.

     They both left a week into the holiday and were supposed to be back yesterday evening but they didn't come. I was getting really worried because we'll.... Lucas was in college so I didn't give a fuck if he missed classes as long as he didn't fail them but Levi is in Middle school so if he skips classes and his grades drop it'll be in his permanent record.

     I walked out of my room heading for Levi's room to see if he had come yesterday night but as I was walking through my door I kicked a small box that was placed on the floor. Confused and curious I picked it up and opened it and a note was folded up inside. I opened the note up and read it.

     "Dear Maya,
I'm sorry for not informing you guys that we would be home late, our flight got delayed so we got back home by 11:00 PM and we were too tired to walk to your rooms and explain what had happened so I decided to Write to you and Lucas to Mom and Dad. I'm sorry if we stressed you out but I know your anger will subside tomorrow morning when you see all the pictures we took and all the stuff Lucas and I bought for you guys 😃😄😆😁

I couldn't stay mad at My little Levi for so long so I forgave him bad he was kidding about the pictures, The Eiffel tower looked really amazing from the angle the picture was taken from. After that we were on our way to school.

     I hope I never get to experience this again. Today was not as I expected, to be honest it was way worse. The entire day I was ignored by a lot of people, I knew to avoid the popular crowd, the cheerleaders and the Jocks. I didn't know who had which title because it was my first day and I didn't have any help at it too.

     Tyler didn't show up today. I asked some people in each class and he wasn't in any so I assumed he was absent, I tried calling him but he didn't pick, texted him didn't get a reply. I started to feel a bit more attached to him than Usual after the dream/nightmare.

     To top it all of I had to do an annoyingly cringey introduction of myself in every single class and I kept getting unwanted attention. I didn't know how to handle although it would be my second time changing schools with my first time being 10 years ago so..... I wouldn't say I'm very experienced

     Luckily the day ended rather quickly than I expected which I was really greatful for. I couldn't spend an extra minute there so immediately the gates opened I was out of there.

     I hopped into my Dad's BMW along with Levi and he told us everything that happened today in his class.

     "Hey Dad, hey Maya, good afternoon, how was you day, how was work" my dad responded with a thumbs up and I smiled back at him wanting him to continue.

     "Well, today in class we were asked what we did during our summer holiday and when it was my turn I told them how we went to a Water park and swam around with Maya, Isaac and Sophia." He kept on talking but I stopped paying attention when I remembered Tyler didn't come to school today. I was getting very concerned, not worried but concerned. I didn't know how to feel about him after the dream I had early this morning. There is a saying Morning dreams come true but right now I don't know if I want it to come true.

     I was snapped out of my thoughts upon hearing my dad ask me a question. "What about you honey, how was your day?" I really loved it when my dad called me pet names. If anyone heard my dad call me any of those names then they'll be able to immediately tell that I'm the favourite child. My dad was still staring at me waiting for an answer. "It was okay dad, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be" I lied through my teeth because I knew if I had told him it was bad he'd have asked me the reason and I can't tell him the real reason. "Okay good, well it's because you left your old friends behind that you're feeling this way, don't worry you'll soon get used to it.

     The drive all the way home was long and Levi kept talking about his day but I couldn't concentrate on what he was saying. Soon we got home and I rushed to my room, locked the door and fell on my bed, immediately whipped out my phone and called Ava. I wasn't thinking straight and I needed to talk to her about a few things, I needed to clear my head.

     It rang and rang and rang but she didn't pick. I called her again determined to talk to her and finally she picked.
"Hello" she said loudly probably because of the noise I could hear coming from her side.
"Hey, are you busy? If you are I don't mind we can talk later"
"No no it's okay I'm not busy I'm just over at Johnson's for a resumption party" I could hear the music blasting through my speakers and the sound of people screaming but I tried to focus on what she was saying.

     "Okay I have something important to tell you and I need your help"
