Chapter 23

Sunoo woke up. The cold breeze of the morning air hit his bare face. He felt so refreshed. Today he is happier than usual. He went downstairs and greeted his mom

“Good morning, Mom.” Sunoo passed his bright smile along with his bright and cheerful energy.

“You look so happy today? Did something good happen?” His mom asked while making breakfast 

Sunoo's smile got bigger but Mrs. Lee wasn’t able to see that.

“No, it's just I feel so refreshed today. Maybe something good is going to happen.” Sunoo took a seat at the dining table.

“I hope you are right” Mrs. Lee sighed and plated Sunoo’s breakfast in front of him.

Mr. Lee went to the office before Sunoo woke up. It wasn’t new. And Heeseung had been avoiding everyone for some days, so Sunoo had to eat his breakfast alone. He hates it. But he can’t do anything. He needs to endure this.

Sunoo ate his breakfast and got ready for his school. Again, he has to go to school alone.

Sunoo bid goodbye to his mom. And left for school.

“What happened? Is everything okay?”

Sunoo was startled by the sudden appearance of Heeseung

“OHA you scared me.”

“Sorry. You look upset. Something happened?” Heeseung asked looking a little tense

“No. I was just upset cause I thought I would have to go to school alone again.” Sunoo and Heeseung were walking side by side. Sunoo felt like the old days came back in a new way.

“You don’t have to go to school alone again. Not only to school but also anywhere. Cause I will be on your side forever.” Heeseung held Sunoo’s hand and intertwined their fingers 

“Sunoo will you be on my side also?” Heeseung asked Sunoo looking into his eyes.

“Yes, I will. Even if everyone left your side. I will never leave you alone.” Sunoo smiled at Heeseung. His words were sincere just like his feelings for Heeseung.

“But Hyung, I am afraid.” Sunoo was afraid of society, their parents, and, at last, his self. He wasn’t sure if he was brave enough to fight against the obstacles they would face soon.

“Don't need to be afraid. I will do everything you just need to listen to me like an obedient baby” Heeseung tightened his grip

“I am not a baby.” Sunoo pouted

“Yes, you are my baby.” Heeseung smiled

Sunoo blushed. He felt butterflies in his stomach.

“Hi everyone.” Sunoo greeted Jungwon and Niki

“Hi” Niki greeted him back

“You look happy today.” Jungwon came forward

“I was always hap–” Jungwon hugged Sunoo

“You weren’t, bitch.” Jungwon couldn’t control seeing his old happy best friend.

“Hey, where did you learn that? Did Niki teach you this?” Sunoo broke the hug and looked at Niki.

Niki Surrender and shook his head to say he wasn’t the one who taught Jungwon bad words and maybe more

“Sorry, but you were depressed for some days and ignored us completely. Is everything okay?” Jungwon asked. He was worried

“Yes, everything is okay. No need to worry.” Sunoo assured Jungwon

“You sure?”

Sunoo smiled and nodded

“Hey, Sunoo, will you go with me to the teacher's office?”

“Why?” Jungwon asked

“Our homeroom teacher asked me to meet him before class started.”

“Let’s go” Niki dragged Sunoo with him.

“But I want to go with you too,” Jungwon yelled, but no work. They left

“Hey, where are we going?” Sunoo asked while running to keep up with the speed of Niki

“I want to know the full story,” Niki replied

“What?”

They were at the roof

“Now tell me,” Niki asked while crossing his hands

“What?” Sunoo didn’t understand what Niki was asking. Because he never thought Niki knew most of the things even that Sunoo didn’t know.

“About you and your brother Lee Heeseung.”

“What are you asking and there is nothing to say” Sunoo replied

“I know Heeseung Hyung likes you. So tell me what happened that you distance yourself and are now walking while holding hands.” Niki cleared everything to Sunoo.

Sunoo was in shock.

“How did you know?” Sunoo asked

“I saw you in the morning,” Niki explained

Sunoo had to confess, so he explained everything to Niki with the fear that Niki would hate him. Sunoo said everything Heeseung told him

“So, you two like each other?” Niki asked

Sunoo nodded

“Do you hate me?”

“No why would I hate you? You are my friend, and you did nothing wrong, but you are sure about your feelings. Heeseung Hyung didn’t force you right?” Niki asked, wanting to be sure.

Sunoo nodded,“ I love him”

“Sunoo, I never told you I had a brother,” Niki said

“His name is Meaki. But he left me long ago. He liked a person and they assaulted him and left him. I was so busy with my own world that I didn’t notice that he lost his cheerful side. In the end, he took his own life.” Sunoo was listening to Niki carefully.

“And I nearly killed that person after I found out about the truth of my brother's death. That's why I was transferred here. I am telling you cause you remind me of Meaki. I want to protect you. So please let me know if there is anything brother you. I will be happy and less guilty.” Niki could control his tears. He didn’t tell this to anyone except Jake.

Sunoo hugged Niki understanding what he had gone through.

“I am sorry. And I will tell you everything from now on.” Sunoo assured Niki

“No matter what, I will always support you,” Niki hugged back. He felt relief after telling Sunoo everything.

“So Sunghoon Hyung had no chance?”Niki broke the hug and playfully asked to brighten the mood. He thought Sunoo knew about Sunghoon’s feelings. Cause it was obvious.

“Sunghoon Hyung?” Sunoo was confused

“Hmm. He likes you” Niki replied

“What?” Sunoo wasn’t sure what he would do to the new information Niki had told him.

“You didn't know?” Niki asked

“No.”

“Why are you so dumb?” Niki sighed

“Hey, I am not dumb."

“Okay, okay, now let's go to the class or Jungwon will get upset,” Niki said as if nothing happened
