Outside Dorms

I ended up at the vending machine when I overheard Horiktia around the corner.

"Ni-San please listen to me. I'm not the useless girl I was before."

"I told you not to come here. Why didn't you listen to me?"

"I can do it. Just trust me."

"Not alone. It's not possible for you if you're alone."

"I don't need those idiots."

"You still haven't gotten over it, have you? No matter what I say to you you just won't listen. Even with this being a new school you still cling to that perception of the world."

"Ni-San. I'll definitely make it to Class A!"

I already knew it was The Student Council President but I took a peek and confirmed it. He grabbed Horiktia by the arm pinning her to the wall.

"You are so immature. Do you think getting to Class A is something you can do on your own? It's difficult to accomplish even with your class helping you and you think you can achieve it alone."

"I'll find a way."

"No, you won't. You'll leave this school immediately."

"But why are you pushing me away again!?"

"You're far too dependent on my shadow. You cling to it imitating me. I've told you this many times. When I came to this school I'd hoped you'd show some growth by the time I'd returned but here I find you enrolled."

"But Ni-San..."

"Shush. You've said enough. You will leave this school lest I have to discipline you."

He raised his hand.

"I won't leave!"

I stepped in grabbing his wrist.

"Ayanokoji-Kun!?"

Manabu turned to see my face.

"Huh? Who are you?"

"Ayanokoji Kiyotaka. Class 1D."

"You know eavesdropping isn't an honourable trait."

"Neither is attacking your sister."

"It was only going to be a slap. Some discipline for a foolish little sister."

The way he had raised his hand really did make the scene look more like a parent of their child than siblings. Perhaps he is the one who raised her? Then who was taking care of her when he left for this boarding school?

"Either way I insist you let her go now."

"And if I refuse?"

"Then that would end badly for me."

Horikita then spoke out.

"Ayanokoji! Stop it! None of this concerns you."

'Her voice... It's like she's a completely different person.'

I reluctantly let go of Manabu's wrist as he swung his arm back and I dodged. He looked surprised. He threw a kick at me as I swayed my head dodging it. He attacked once again reaching towards me. He disguised his attempt to grab me as a strike so I slapped his hand away. Horikita was stunned. He tried for another attack trying to get me with a nasty combo. I quickly pulled away in response.
