KMoney: Sonny's Problem

"B.A.B.Y M.A.M.A this one goes out to all my baby mamas" I pick my phone up and answer it as Fantasia's Baby Mama song comes through the speaker.
"Hello" I say. "Hey are you busy" Erica ask. "No just sitting here flipping through the channels, was up" "oh, well Sonny wants to talk to you" "Does he really" I ask. I hear silence. "I take that as a no but your making him" I say. I wonder what does he want to talk about, I just seen them a few days ago. "Well can you meet us at Kings favorite restaurant in about a hour" she ask. "Yea I guess" "Don't be that way Kamani please" she says. "Aight, i'll see y'all in about a hour" "ok, you bringing Pillar" she ask. "Naw, she still sleep" "Wake her, she needs to come too" Erica says. "Aight" I say then we hang up.

Damn she got me wondering what does he want. Shit is she pregnant, do he want to get her pregnant, does he want to marry her. I mean what can it be?
I go and wake Pillar and we get it together then head out to meet Erica and them at TGIFridays.
We pull up to the restaurant and its packed. Mannn I hope they already here cause I know the wait time is every bit of 2 hours. Pillar and myself goes in and I see Erica and Sonny standing at the door.

"Hey y'all" I say as I hug Erica then Pillar hugs her as well.
"Party of 6" the hostess comes up to us and say. "Yes" Erica replies. The 4 of us follows her to a table. "Wheres King" I ask. "Him and BJ is on their way" Sonny says. We finally get to the table and have a seat.

Waitress comes over and start talking but my mind drifts off to a similar sit down, Erica, King, Pillar and myself had.

Pillar and myself had been dating for 6 months and it was obvious at the rate we were going we were going to be together for a lip minute. Well I finally wanted her to meet King but she thought it was only right that she introduce herself to his other mom and be respectful and let her know the deal with the 2 of us. I thought oh hell naw this bitch tripping. But it was actually cool. The 3 of us don't believe in drama. Pillar thought Erica should know the other women he'd be staying in the house with as well as the women who'd be picking him up from school, dropping him off, going to his practices, games, cooking for him, etc. If I couldn't make it. But I mean I shouldn't have been surprised Erica is 12 years older than me and she's more mature than some 40 year olds. Anyway she was cool and surprised and she respected the 2 of our relationship as well as Pillar respected me and Erica's relationship. She also told her that she's not going to be like some women and have the kid calling her mom. But Erica replied by saying that's fine but kids will call you what they want. Anyway since that day everything between us has been cool, no drama or bullshit and Erica and myself has made it our thing that whoever we get with we must have a sit down and explain to them our situation and let them know that will always be in each others lives no matter what. King is apart of both of us.

"Huh" "Babe rum or vodka " Pillar taps me and say. "Oh,  I'll start off with a Rum Runner but can I get Pineapple Ciroc instead of rum" "OK the waitress says then walks off. "I wanted to talk to you all about King" Sonny opens his mouth and say. "Is it his behavior, is he being bad or doin inappropriate things" I ask. As Sonny is about to open his mouth King and BJ walks up. King gives me and Pillar a hug. "Since he's here now we can really talk" Sonny says. "Well the other day we were just talking and Sonny asked if we were to get married would King call him dad" Erica says. "And King what did you say" I ask him as I look at him. "I said I already have a dad but is it ok if I call you step dad or Sonny" he says.

Now I'm suppose to be happy and shit but I'm just speechless at Sonny's demands and Kings response.

"Ok and" I say "well Sonny don't think its right because your not his dad and he would want that respect if we were to get married" Erica says. Well damn this nigga cant speak for himself. So I adjust myself and look Sonny in his eyes. "Are you planning on marrying Erica" I ask. "I don't know, maybe, one day. Maybe I don't know" he replies sounding a little nervous. I see him marrying her is out of the question. "Ok, well did you ever think to ask King why does he call me his dad or are you assuming because I'm a stud I'm making him call me his dad" I ask Sonny as I continue to look him in his eyes. Its probably making him uncomfortable but I need him to know that I stand by everything I say and that him being a man doesn't scare me nor does it make me lack confidence in this situation.

"Well my sister is a stud and her girlfriend has kids and she makes them call her dad, not mom" he says. I shake my head in a yes motion. Ok oh so he assumes I'm like every other stud. Naw nothing like them. "Ok so you assume, did you ever ask E about it" I ask. "Naw" Sonny says. "Kings right here, ask him for yourself, he's old enough to give you an answer" I tell Sonny while I continue looking him in his eyes. Pillar squeezes my hand that's under the table and E hits my foot with hers. I know they think I'm being to hard but he is too. I pay the both of them no mind and I don't flinch.

"You know she's a female a woman right King" Sonny ask him. "Yes sir" King replies. "She's not a man she doesn't have what you have downstairs" "yes sir" King replies again while looking Sonny in his eyes. "Only guys can be dads and fathers" Sonny tells King. King then looks at him like he's confused. "Why the look on your face baby" E ask him. "Because ma I know this" he replies. "So why do you call Kamani your dad, she's your other mom" Sonny ask a smile comes across BJ's face like this is funny. Which makes me wana slap fire from his ass.

"Because since I was born she's always been there by my side. When I turned 6 they talked to me about 2 guys dating and 2 girls dating and that some families have a man and a women and some don't and some only have one parent. They also talked to me about the roll a dad plays and the roll a mom plays. A dad is the one that provides for the family, work hard and make sure we always have food in the house, a house over our heads and clothes and protects us from danger. Make sure kids stay out of trouble by being hard on them, teach little boys them how to stand and pee. Play catch with thier sons and basketball, wrestle with each other and go to sports games, tell their sons its ok if they have a crush on a girl and they think shes cute, be hard disci disci discipline them when they be bad, let them get away with stuff that moms don't and that's all the things she does for me since I was born" He says as he points at me. "So that's what I want to call her dad cause she does alot and more than my friends dads do with them and for them. I know she's my mom but she does dad things with me and I love her so much and I love that so much so she's my dad too and Mommy Is my mom too. Mommy told me that mom gave her something that helped me be born so now I'm part of both of them. Even when we don't stay together she always do dad stuff for me when mom yells at me and my she tells me its ok I just have to be better than the situations like dads tell their kids." King says.

We all including the waitress is just sitting there in awe. Damn that touched me. You see I never asked, he just started calling me dad one day, we keep correcting him but he just keep on so we left it alone. E always said kids will call you what their comfortable calling you no matter how many times you correct them. I never knew why and I wasn't gone question it. Some times depending where we were at he'll call me mommy and some times he'll call me dad.

King looks at me and smile. I smile back. "Is it anything else you wanted to talk about" I ask Sonny. "Umm, no, no, not at all" he replies. I guess he wasn't excepting that answer, shit me either.

The waitress takes our order as we sit and hold small conversations with each other.
My phone vibrates and its Marley. I step away from the table and go outside to answer it.

"Hello, what's up sis" I say as I answer. "Yo you ever been round some one you were cool with but you haven't seen them for awhile and now you got a bad vibe about them for some reason but you don't know the reason" Marley says. "Yeah I know that feeling why was up" I ask "my homeboy Boom just got out, we been chilling and what not to but I got a bad vibe about him for some reason, I don't know. So what did you do, did you stop talking to them or what" she ask. "Sis to be honest with you on some real shit" "well was your wrong vibe right" she ask. I laugh. "Shit the wrong vibe cause it was something bout them right but see I thought it was for one reason but really it was for a whole nother reason and i didn't like the real reason so I killed them" I tell her. Marley is silent, no words or nothing. "But you good sis whatever it is I got you aight" I assure her. "Aight, thanks for the advice, will call in a lil bit sis, I love you" she says. "I love you too" I say we then hang up.

I can't tell you who, why, when and how just know it was done for a good reason. I return to the restaurant and finish my lunch. Hopefully Sonny and BJ isn't next.
