After spending the last couple of hours dealing with paperwork, navigating the maze-like corridors of SAU, and trying to locate the Psychology building earlier, which felt like an eternity, Gabrielle gave up and decided to take a detour and head to meet Sage.
Gabrielle finally figured out where Sage was. She had texted Sage earlier, asking where she was, and Sage had replied that she was still at the dance studio, wrapping up their practice.
Gabrielle sighed in relief as she headed in the direction of the dance studio. It was a good thing Sage had mentioned the location of the studio more than once during their hangouts, so at least Gab knew where to find her unlike the Psychology building, which seemed to be hidden away like a well-kept.
As she approached the entrance, she could already hear the faint sounds of music and laughter filtering through the door. Gabrielle pushed it open and stepped inside, feeling the cool air-conditioned breeze wash over her. The studio was a large, well-lit space with mirrors lining one wall and hardwood floors gleaming under the overhead lights.
She spotted Sage first, wiping her forehead with a towel as she chatted with a red-haired girl, who was sitting on the floor stretching.
Sage looked up as Gabrielle entered and broke into a grin. "Oh, look who finally found the dance studio!" she teased, a playful glint in her eyes. "Mabuti di ka nawala?"
Gabrielle chuckled and shrugged. "Yeah."
As soon as Gabrielle was close enough, Sage couldn't help but tease her more. "So, alam mo pala kung saan 'yung dance studio, pero hindi mo mahanap 'yung Psychology building?" Sage burst into laughter, clearly enjoying the irony.
"Hey, at least I made it here without getting lost. Ang psychology building kasi, ang daming pasikot-sikot, parang nagtatago."
Sage laughed, shaking her head in mock disbelief. "May point ka. But I'm glad you made it. Ready ka na ba? We can head out once I'm done."
"Yeah, take your time," Gabrielle said, glancing around the studio. Her eyes landed on a familiar figure, who was watching her with a curious expression. As their eyes met, a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips, and without even thinking, she returned the smile. Gabrielle recognized the person, she was the one who she had bumped into earlier in the hallway.
A mix of recognition and amusement in her eyes. "Small world," Gabrielle said.
The latter chuckled, nodding. "Yeah."
Sage, noticing the silent exchange between her best friend and Shaine, raised an eyebrow and grinned. "Hold on a second," she said, turning to Gabrielle. "kilala niyo na ang isa't isa?"
Gabrielle shook her head slightly. "Not really. We just bumped into each other earlier. Quite literally."
"Oh! So you're the one Shaine ran into kanina kaya natagalan siya despite her going to the canteen" Maxine asked in a teasing grin.
Gabrielle nodded and found herself chuckling along with Sage and Maxine as the playful teasing continued. Despite the chaos of the day, there was something comforting about being in a familiar space, surrounded by people who made everything seem a little less overwhelming.
