Shaine grinned from ear to ear as she read the latest message from her friend on X despite feeling quite upset earlier. She couldn't help it,her heart raced, and she felt the kilig spreading through her like wildfire. She was practically bouncing in her seat, her excitement bubbling over and she began shaking her friend beside her and lightly slapping her arm in excitement.
"Nak nang—tumigil ka nga, Shaine!" Pagrereklamo ng katabi niya sakaniya while trying to push Shaine's hands off of her.
"Siguradong kinikilig na naman yan," Maxine teased from across the table, noticing Shaine's wide grin and restless energy. "Look at that smile—abot langit"
Nicole gave Shaine a sharp look, pressing her palm to Shaine's arm to stop the latter from shaking her. "Sino na naman 'yan? I swear, ilang beses na kitang sinabihan about sa pag-uusap mo sa mga tao over the internet. Kilala mo ba 'yan?"
"Sino ba yan?" Maxine, ever the curious one, leaned closer, trying to sneak a peek.
"Wala." Shaine calmly said. Trying to suppress her grin, but it was no use, she still ends up smiling ear to ear. Maxine and Nicole exchanged amused glances, clearly curious about what was going on.
"Sino ba 'yan? Sigurado akong hindi si Jungwon 'yan since hindi ka naman nanonood ng video," Max said with a laugh, referencing Shaine's favorite Enhypen member. She leaned in further, attempting to get a glimpse of Shaine's screen. "Teka, kilala ba namin 'yan?"
As Maxine leaned in even closer, trying to catch a good glimpse of Shaine's screen, Shaine playfully pushed her head away, causing Maxine to stumble back.
"Aray naman! Sakit nun ah!" Maxine complained, rubbing her head.
"Chismosa ka kasi!" Shaine shot back, though she couldn't stop laughing at Maxine's exaggerated reaction.
Maxine, rubbing her head dramatically, looked at Shaine, a sly grin spreading across her face. "Why are you so kilig? Who's making you smile like that?"
Shaine pretended to be uninterested, but the blush creeping up her cheeks gave her away. "None of your business!" she retorted, but the kilig in her voice was undeniable.
Maxine, undeterred, leaned in again. "C'mon, just let me see!" she whined, this time making a bigger show of trying to peek at Shaine's phone.
Nicole, still slightly annoyed but curious, raised an eyebrow. "And don't even try to say it's 'just a friend.' Alam naming hindi ka ganyan kapag friends lang."
Shaine glanced between the two of them, debating whether sasabihin niya ba o hindi. Finally, she sighed, realizing there was no escaping their interrogation
"Fine, pero 'wag kayong masyadong chismosa," Shaine rolled her eyes dramatically, finally gave in and tilted her phone just enough for Maxine to see.
Maxine leaned in again, this time without resistance from Shaine. She squinted at the name on the screen, then her eyes widened in recognition.
"Gabrielle?" Maxine asked reading it out loud, more like a statement than a question. "Sino 'to ah?"
Nicole, who had been pretending not to care, immediately perked up and moved closer. "Wait, wait, sino 'yan? Saan mo nakilala 'yan?"
Maxine leaned in even further, glancing at Shaine with a knowing smirk. "Wait lang—ilang taon na 'to? Baka naman matanda na 'to, Shaine."
"Saan yan galing? Ilang taon na 'yan? Baka matanda na 'yan, Shaine." Nicole said firmly.
"Yeah, where did you meet this Gabrielle? Is this a student? Baka naman working professional na 'yan!"
