The sun had barely risen when Royal Consort Yoongi sent for Commander Hoseok. It was an unusual summons, but not entirely unexpected. The news of Prince Yeonjun and Soobin's relationship had traveled through the palace, and now it was time for a proper discussion. Yoongi, ever meticulous and protective, knew that this conversation was vital for the future of his son and the young noble who had captured his heart.
Commander Hoseok arrived promptly at the royal chambers, his expression neutral but his mind racing with thoughts. He was a man of honor and duty, but when it came to his son, Soobin, he was a father first. He was unsure of what to expect but prepared himself for whatever was to come.
As Hoseok entered the chambers, he found Yoongi seated gracefully on a plush chaise, his demeanor calm and composed. Despite his status as a consort, Yoongi carried himself with the regal air befitting a royal. He gestured for Hoseok to take a seat.
"Commander Hoseok," Yoongi began, his voice soft but firm, "thank you for coming on such short notice."
"Of course, Your Highness," Hoseok replied, bowing slightly before sitting. "It is always an honor to be in your presence."
Yoongi offered a small smile before getting to the heart of the matter. "I wanted to speak with you about our sons—Prince Yeonjun and Soobin. I understand that their relationship has taken a serious turn, and I wanted to address any concerns you might have."
Hoseok hesitated, his fingers clenching the fabric of his trousers. "Your Highness, I—of course, I want what's best for Soobin. But I cannot deny that I have my reservations. Soobin is not a prince, and though I am a noble by my position as Commander, I worry about the pressures and scrutiny that come with being tied to the royal family."
Yoongi nodded, his expression understanding. "Your concerns are valid, Hoseok. But let me put your mind at ease. Prince Yeonjun is deeply committed to Soobin. He doesn't care about titles or status—only that Soobin makes him happy. And as for the matter of status, you are right; as Commander, you are indeed a noble. Soobin will not face any judgments because of his birth. On the contrary, he will be respected for who he is."
Hoseok sighed, the tension in his shoulders easing slightly. "But what if others do not see it that way? What if Soobin is looked down upon or ridiculed?"
Yoongi's eyes flashed with a protective light. "If anyone dares to insult Soobin, they will answer to me. I will not tolerate any slights against him, and I will defend him as fiercely as I would my own son. You have my word, Commander."
Hoseok's heart swelled with gratitude and relief. "Thank you, Your Highness. Knowing that you will stand by Soobin means the world to me."
Yoongi gave a gentle nod, his gaze softening. "Soobin will be well cared for, Hoseok. Prince Yeonjun loves him, and that is what matters most. Now, let us prepare for the future together, as one family."
Hoseok, now reassured, rose to his feet and bowed deeply. "I will always support my son and Prince Yeonjun. Thank you, Your Highness, for your kindness and understanding."
With the conversation concluded, Hoseok took his leave, his heart lighter than it had been in days. Yoongi watched him go, feeling satisfied that he had done his part to protect his son's happiness.
Later that day, Yoongi found himself in the grand audience chamber, where King Namjoon and Queen Seokjin were already in discussion. Namjoon, still recovering from the events of the previous weeks, sat regally on his throne, his sharp mind undulled by his recent trials. Seokjin, ever the picture of grace, stood by his side, listening intently.
Yoongi entered the room with his usual quiet grace, but the underlying tension between him and Seokjin was palpable. Despite his jealousy, Yoongi knew that the Queen's counsel was invaluable. There were matters that needed to be discussed, and for the sake of the kingdom, he would put aside his personal feelings.
