Lucas ran after Nico's shadowy figure through the courtyard, his clothes snagging on various bushes, trees, and metal gates."Nico! You idiot! Get back here!" Lucas shouted after Nico as he jumped down a small flight of stairs, but Nico was long gone...with a sigh, Lucas started to walk back towards the castle, panting.
After Nico had disappeared the night passed slowly...upon King Adrian's request, Lucas tried to mingle with the Draconian party guests, but they either didn't speak the language or wanted nothing to do with him. For hours Lucas walked around aimlessly, sighing and looking down at his feet...as he walked past the buffet he slowly reached up to touch his pendant...but wait...Lucas froze in horror as he felt around his collarbone, the pendant was gone. "Oh great...Father's going to kill me..." Lucas thought to himself, the pit in his stomach growing. As Lucas's fate started to seal itself, he wandered away from the party...creeping down the dark hallway, the muffled music and voices echoing through the hall...
After receiving directions from a Draconian servant, Lucas finally made it to his chambers, collapsing on his bed with a sigh, Lucas needed to come up with a solution, and fast. Lucas gently closed his eyes, "Ugh...what am I going to do?..." Lucas groaned...but then he heard Nico's voice in front of him "Do about what?" Lucas' soul practically left his body as he quickly sat up in shock, only for his head to hit Nico's head with a yelp and a thud. "Ow!" Nico yelped as he fell backward and off the bed, landing on his rear with another thud. "Nico! What in the world-" Lucas rubbed his forehead tenderly as he looked down at Nico with a frown. "Wow, no hello?" Nico growled as he rubbed his forehead. "No, you don't get any sort of greeting since you broke into my room." Lucas huffed as he watched Nico stand back up, his tail lashing back and forth. "Whatever, you'll thank me in a second." Nico sighed as he reached into his pocket and grabbed Lucas' pendant. Lucas' eyes widened "W-where did you get that?!" Lucas yelped, but Nico merely shrugged "The ground." Lucas had two theories: one, Nico had stolen it. Two: Nico was being an unusually good samaritan? "So...do I owe you one, now?" Luke muttered, trying to hide his shock with mock annoyance. Nico looked away, silent for a couple heartbeats before he mumbled "Just be there, if I need help." Nico quickly added on "Which I will NEVER need. Luke sighed with a tiny smile "yeah, yeah, whatever." and with that, Nico gave Luke one final glance, before climbing onto the windowsill, and disappearing into the night, silent as a mouse. Luke sighed as he laid back down, staring blankly up that ceiling before he muttered...
"That damn cat of a dragon."
