Qiling knew that it was wrong but he couldn't help himself. Wuxie always looked so peaceful when he slept.
Honestly it was by chance really that it happened. He was minding his own business when he came across Wuxie. He was asleep on a chair with a book in his hands. He wanted to capture that moment. If he ever lost his memories he would have this to look back on, he tried to reason as he pocketed his phone. He walked over to him and caressed his cheek. His fingers tingled from the contact. His eyes hadn't left Wuxie's face since he saw him. The wind lightly blew his hair and the tree above, giving them abit of shade. It was a nice day, not too sunny but also not to windy. The sky was blue with little white clouds and the trees looked stunning against it. Really, any normal person would have been enjoying such a view as they relaxed but Qiling thought that the best view was Wuxie. He liked how the tree cast shade on his face and the way the wind made his hair flutter, he especially liked how Wuxie's eyelashes trembled whenever he caressed his cheek. He wasn't sure how long he was kneeling beside Wuxie and caressing his cheek but it was abit too long as Wuxie's eyes fluttered open and stared at Qiling in shock.
"X..xiao-ge?" Wuxie asked not realizing that Qiling had removed his hand at the speed of light. "Ahh, did I fall asleep out here? The weather was just so nice. It's been awhile since we could relax right." Wuxie smiled as he stretched. Qiling just stood up and was about to walk away when Wuxie stopped him. He had grabbed his hand. His heart stopped for a moment as the heat spread from Wuxie's hand to his whole body. "Wait, let's eat together. It's been awhile and Pangzi seems busy with his shop." Qiling looked over his shoulder to see Wuxie pouting abit.
"Ok." Qiling said and Wuxie excitedly got up. A small smile on his lips as he followed Wuxie to get some food.
When they had finished eating Wuxie decided that he wanted to read some more so they moved to the study. Both sat in a comfortable silence as they read their own books. An hour or two passed by in a flash and Wuxie felt his eyes getting heavy.
"It's that late already? Xiao-ge, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to keep you so long." Wuxie apologized only for Qiling to shake his head.
"It's ok." Qiling assured him as he left to go home as they said their goodbyes. He had a little place in the woods, although he didn't stay there much it was still his home. Most of his time he was with Wuxie and Pangzi or out on adventures. As Qiling reached home he took off his shoes and rest his sword next to him as he lay in bed. He took out his phone and opened it to Wuxie's picture. He set it as his home screen and just stared at it for awhile before he went to sleep. A few days passed and he decided to go visit Wuxie again. When be arrived Pangzi and Wuxie were bickering about how much ramen they could eat. He smiled at the weird comfort it gave him.
"Ah, Xiao-ge is here. I bet he'll take my side, right? I'm clearly the one who can eat more. Just look at me, I'm called Pangzi for a reason." Pangzi laughed as he draped his arm over Qiling's shoulder.
"I also eat alot. We should do a contest, I'm sure I can beat you." Wuxie grumbled. "Xiao-ge, you're taking my side right? Come here and don't listen to that Fatty." Wuxie grabbed Qiling and pulled him over to his side as he showed Pangzi his tongue. Before Qiling knew it, he was the rope in a tug of war between Pangzi and Wuxie.
"I would win." Qiling decided to burst both their bubbles. They stopped their little pull and push as they began to laugh.
"Xiao-ge would win. I forfit if it's against you." Pangzi patted his shoulder as he sat on a chair. Wuxie was still laughing as Qiling stood in front of him. He wanted to take a picture. It was instinct by now. His phone already in his hand as he pressed the shutter botton and quickly pocketing it back. Pangzi had seen but just smiled and shook his head. They were like teens sometimes and him the adult. Pangzi wondered if Qiling's phone was filled with secret pictures of Wuxie. He shook his head, it wasn't his business.
"Let's do a movie night, it's been awhile since we've all been together like this." Wuxie excitedly said. He was right, after their endless anventures, they all had gone seperate ways, only occationally meeting up and even then it was breif.
"Sounds like a plan." Pangzi agreed and Qiling nodded his head in agreement. The day passed by with Qiling, Wuxie and Pangzi just relaxing together, enjoying the peace and quiet that they rearly got. Night came around and Wuxie was getting the food and snacks ready while Pangzi got the movie.
"What kind of show is it?" Wuxie asked as he settled next to Qiling as Pangzi took the spot on his other side.
"It's a horror, I heard it was really good." Pangzi said as he took the popcorn from Wuxie. The show was only 15 minutes in when they heard snoring from the side. Pangzi had fallen asleep with the popcorn still clutched in his hands and mouth open. Wuxie laughed as he took the bowl and pushed him so he was laying on his side. Qiling watched as Wuxie snickered at their friend, a small smile graced his normally stotic face.
"Here Xiao-ge," Wuxie handed him the popcorn as he took a blanket and covered Pangzi. "Let's continue the show." Wuxie smiled as he took some popcorn and ate. Honestly if you asked Qiling what the show was about, he didn't know. His eyes were drawn to Wuxie and his reactions. The way he slightly jumped when he got scared or how he tried to play it off by laughing, the way his eyes grew big when something surprising happened or how his body was squeezed against his side as they shared a blanket. "Ahhh, the movie's done." Wuxie stretched his hands as he leaned against the sofa behind them. Qiling blinked. It was over. "Pangzi, get up and go in the bed." Wuxie shaked him but he didn't get up. "Ughh, this fatty." Wuxie struggled to drag him so instead he took a pillow and gave him. "That should work." Wuxie smiled as he walked off to clean up, Qiling following right behind him with the wears. "Xiao-ge, let's wash these and head to bed." They worked in comfortable silence as they cleaned. They were laying in Wuxie's bed ready to sleep but Qiling couldn't sleep. Not yet at least. Not until Wuxie was asleep. 1 minute passed, 5 minutes then 10 minutes.
"Not sleepy?" Qiling broke the silence as he was staring up at the ceiling. He felt the bed move as Wuxie turned to face him.
"No, it's just... well I know it's a movie and really, I'm not scared, but when I close my eyes I feel like something will jump out." Wuxie watched as Qiling also turned to him.
"I'm here, sleep." Qiling said as he rested his hand on Wuxie's head, gently patting him.
"Goodnight, Xiao-ge." Wuxie mumbled and soon enough he was asleep. Qiling thought he was adorable. He smiled softly as he combed his fingers through his hair, slowly making his way down to his cheek. He caressed it and as he looked at Wuxie's sleeping face, he too fell asleep.
