Darrian was lounging on his bed, his hands resting gently on his big, round belly. David, his boyfriend, was stretched out beside him, his head nestled on Darrian's stomach. Normally, David was all about that street life, with his tough-guy attitude and ''swagger''.
But right now, he was totally out of character, looking soft as ever, lost in the feeling of their baby kicking.Darrian, grinning ear to ear, couldn't resist recording the moment.
He grabbed his phone, hit the camera app, and started filming. David was so caught up in his own world that he didn't even notice the little red recording light flashing away.
The camera captured David's face, which was usually a stern mask but now was a big, goofy smile. He was humming an old lullaby, barely above a whisper. "Hey there, little champ," he cooed, his voice dripping with warmth. "Daddy's here, and you're gonna be the coolest kid on the block, alright?"
Darrian's heart was basically melting into a puddle. David's tough exterior was nowhere to be seen as he gently traced circles on Darrian's belly, talking to their baby like he was already smitten.
But then David shifted, and his eyes locked onto the red light of the recording camera. His face turned from sweet to panic in about two seconds flat. "Aw, hell no nigga!" he shouted, jumping up like he'd been caught red-handed.
Darrian couldn't stop laughing, his amusement filling the room. David's face was as red as a tomato, and he tried to recover his cool by putting on his usual cocky grin. "What? You think I was being all soft? Nah, man. I was just... uh, checking the baby's vibe or whatever."
Darrian's laughter only got louder. "Sure, David. You were definitely just 'checking the baby's vibe' with your lullabies and your soft touches."
David rolled his eyes but couldn't help but smile. "Yeah, yeah, maybe I was a bit soft. But don't go telling anyone. I've got a street rep to protect, you know?"
Darrian shook his head, still giggling. "Oh, I don't think you need to worry about your street cred. Our baby's gonna love you for exactly who you are, even if you do try to play it cool."
David's serious act cracked as he leaned in and kissed Darrian's belly. "Yeah, alright. But this stays between us, okay? I can't have anyone knowing I'm turning into a softie."
Darrian gave him a playful shove. "Your secret's safe with me." David grinned and laid back down, his tough-guy façade melting away again. They relaxed there, wrapped up in the moment, the room filled with their shared joy and laughter.
And as Darrian looked at David, he knew that, despite his attempts to act all street, his heart was already completely hooked on their little family. And honestly, that was the best thing ever.
