The party was poppin'. Lights flashing, beats bumpin'—Wizkid and Tems' "Essence" had the whole spot lit. You could feel the vibe in the air, like the whole room was syncin' up with the rhythm.
Darrian was chillin' on the edge of the dance floor, vibing solo. He wasn't really tryin' to be the center of attention; he was more about getting lost in the music. The lyrics slid into his ears:
"You don't need no other body, Only you fi hold my body"
Darrian started swayin' to the beat, his movements slow and easy. The world around him felt like it was melting away, leaving just him and the groove.
Outta nowhere, he felt a light touch at his hips. He opened his eyes and saw a tall, brown-skinned dude movin' right next to him. The guy's presence was smooth, his every move in perfect sync with Darrian's.
Darrian looked up, and their eyes locked. The dude's gaze was warm, his smile all kinds of chill. His hands rested lightly on Darrian's hips, guiding their shared dance.
"I don't want nobody else but you"
Darrian's heartbeat picked up. The song felt like it was wrapping around them, making the moment even more intense. He leaned in, shoutin' over the music, "Yo, who you?"The tall dude grinned. "I'm David. What's good with you?"
"Darrian," he said, flashing a smile. "You got some moves, fam. Didn't expect to see someone like you catchin' the vibe so hard."David chuckled. "I'm into music and dance. Been doin' this for a minute. I used to be in a crew back in the day."
Darrian's eyebrows shot up. "Word? What else you into?" David leaned in. "I rap. You might've heard of me—Dd osama?"Darrian's eyes lit up.
"No cap, I know your stuff. You fire!"
David's smile got even bigger. "Appreciate that, man. You should hit up one of my shows sometime. Would love to see you there."Darrian was hyped. "Definitely down."As the song hit its peak, David's hands eased off Darrian's hips, but he lingered a bit longer, savin' the connection.
The beat started to fade, and the energy in the room shifted.David turned to Darrian with a grin. "Yo, lemme get your number. We should keep in touch. Maybe grab a bite or sum."Darrian's smile was all teeth.
"Say less." He handed over his phone, and they swapped numbers, their fingers brushing in the process.
The party raged on, but for Darrian and David, it felt like their night was just beginning. Amidst the flashing lights and booming bass, they found a new connection that felt like it was just getting started.
New York was still buzzin' outside, but inside, in the middle of that rhythm and energy, Darrian and David had found something real.
