.Darrian scrolled through his phone, his thumb hesitating over the 'post' button. It had been two years since that summer night, the night everything changed. He was at the top of his game, spitting bars that echoed through the streets, earning respect in a male-dominated industry. But one mistake had flipped his world upside down.
That night, he crossed paths with David, one of the biggest names in the game. They vibed, one thing led to another, and nine months later, Darrian found himself staring into the eyes of a beautiful baby boy, Dj.
For two years, he kept his secret under wraps. His career was his life, and he didn’t want the world to see him as "just another baby mama." But tonight, something in him clicked. He needed to share his truth, on his terms.
With a deep breath, he finally tapped the screen, posting an old photo of his baby bump.

Within minutes, his phone blew up. The post went viral, fans, friends, and even haters flooding his notifications. But there was one message that made his heart skip a beat.
It was from David.
David: We need to talk.
Darrian’s hands shook as he read the message. David hadn’t reached out since that night, and Darrian had convinced himself he didn’t care. But now, here he was, sliding into his DMs like nothing had happened.
He hesitated, then typed back.
Darrian: What’s there to talk about?
The response was almost immediate.
David: Us. Our son.
Darrian’s heart pounded. He stared at his screen, a mix of anger and confusion swirling inside him. Where was this concern when he was going through it alone? Where was David when Dj took his first steps, said his first words?
But despite the anger, there was a part of him that wanted to believe David, to believe that he cared.
Darrian: Fine. When?

A week later, Darrian sat nervously at a quiet café, Dj on his lap. He watched the door, his heart racing with every customer that walked in. Finally, he saw him. David, with his signature look, walked in like he owned the place.
He spotted them immediately, his eyes widening as he saw Dj. For a moment, he just stood there, taking him in. Then, with a deep breath, he walked over.
“Hey,” he said softly, his voice cracking just a little.
Darrian nodded, not trusting himself to speak. Dj, sensing the tension, clung to his mother, his big brown eyes staring up at the man before him.
David crouched down to Dj’s level. “Hey, little man,” he said gently. “I’m your dad.”
DJ blinked, his tiny face scrunching up in confusion. He looked up at Darrian, who gave him a reassuring smile.
“It’s okay, baby,” Darrian whispered. “This is your daddy.”
Slowly, Dj reached out a hand, touching David’s face. David smiled, tears welling up in his eyes as he gently took Dj's hand in his.
“I’m sorry, Darrian,” David said, looking up at him. “For everything. I messed up, and I know that. But I’m here now. I want to be a part of his life... if you’ll let me get a chance.”
Darrian felt a lump in his throat. He had imagined this moment so many times, but now that it was happening, he didn’t know what to feel. Part of him wanted to push David away, to protect himself and Dj from any more hurt. But another part of him, the part that still remembered the good times, wanted to give David a chance.
“Dj deserves to know his father,” Darrian finally said. “But I need you to prove that you’re serious. I won’t let you hurt him.”
David nodded, his expression earnest. “I will. I promise. I’ll do whatever it takes.”
For the first time in a long time, Darrian felt a flicker of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could make this work.
Over the next few months, David proved he was serious. He showed up to every playdate, every doctor’s appointment, and even a few of Darrian’s shows. Slowly, he started to gain Darrian’s trust back, little by little.
One evening, as the three of them sat in Darrian’s living room, Dj fell asleep in David’s arms. Darrian watched them, a soft smile on his lips. For the first time in years, he felt like maybe, just maybe, things were going to be okay.
“Thank you,” David whispered, looking up at him. “For giving me a chance.”
Darrian nodded, his heart full. “Just don’t mess it up.”
“I won’t,” David promised.
And for once, Darrian believed him.
