*Pacifica POV*
Just breathe Pacifica. Nothing to be stressed about this. It's your birthday and you can hang out with whoever you want. You don't have to hide who you are, your parents won't notice.
"You ready, sweetheart??" My parents walk into my room.
"I think so."
"Just remember, all that matters is that you show off how much better we are than everyone in that room." My dad says to me, and I sigh.
"Dad, can't I just focus on having a good time for once??"
"Your father is right. The Northwest brand is most important, and making your parents proud should make you happy." My mom kisses my head and they both leave. I roll my eyes and groan. I don't know why this night would be different, but it's, once again, not actually to support me. All my parents want is to protect our family's image. Whatever. Some of my favorite people are downstairs, and that's all that matters.
*Dipper POV*
"I didn't know you and Pacifica were so close to be on her court."
"Yeah, a couple years ago, she asked me to help her catch up on schoolwork since her parents just paid the teachers for As" Olive replies.
"So are you like, extremely smart??" Mabel said.
"No, I'm average, but Pacifica and I have been in a lot of classes together so it was easier. She would come to the Shack a lot so I could help her with homework." We all nod in understanding until we hear a trumpet. We look up the stairs.
"Welcome everyone to the Sweet 16 party of our beautiful daughter, Pacifica Elise Northwest." Her dad stated, making us all clap.
"Please enjoy the food, dance floor, drinks, the entire thing. I mean, you're fine dining after all." There were too many snotty laughs at that one.
"So, without further adieu, here's the birthday girl. Please welcome Pacifica." Everyone applauded as we saw a blonde head walk out. When she finally got to her parents, I was stunned. She was in the most beautiful lavender dress in the entire world. Her hair was done so nicely. She just looked perfect. She walked down the stairs and I swear, time froze. I felt this weird feeling. I couldn't name it. I mean, it was just Pacifica, nothing special. We're friends, that's my friend, so why is my breath being taken away??
"Um, Dipper." She snaps me out of my trance.
"What, oh, hey Pacifica. Happy Birthday."
"Thank you." We sat there in silence for a second. I can hear Mabel giggle. I have to say something. "You look so...um...nice."
"So do you." We chuckle and stare.
"Pacifica, darling, over here." Called her dad.
"I'll be back."
"Take your time." She walked away and I felt just how warm my face was.
"Well, that was...painful to watch." Mabel stated.
"Don't you have alcohol to consume." She laughs and goes with her friends as I go in the bathroom to regroup.
*Mabel POV*
Goddamn, I am drunker than I was planning on being. Pacifica and I did 2 jello shots and we've been drinking mixed drinks all night. Dipper is standing on the side, which makes Pacifica take a few minute break every once in a while to talk to him. Candy and Grenda convinced Olive to dance with us, but she turned down the drinks we offered, which is fine. Right now, we're all jamming to One Direction's song 'Best Song Ever'
"This is the best birthday ever!!!!"
"Good, you deserve it. TO PACIFICA." I screamed
"TO PACIFICA" screamed everyone else. Everyone cheered and continued to dance until the song ended. It was time for a breather, so me, Pacifica, and Olive sat at the table.
"God, I'm tired." Pacifica stated.
"We still have soooooo much party left."
"And both of you are soooooooo drunk." Olive joked.
"I'm not that drunk." I argued, hiccupping right after.
"I am. I spilled something on my dress and laughed at it."
"Wow, that's pretty intense. Who even are you??" Olive asked.
"I'm Pacifica Northwest. The Aire to the worst throne ever created."
"Pacifica!!" I shoved her and we all laughed.
"So Olive, how's it going with Chelsea??" Olive's smile went away.
"She ghosted me. Said I'm too awkward."
"Well that's bullshit." Olive shrugged.
"Wait, who's Chelsea??"
"This girl Olive was talking to."
"Olive, I didn't know you were gay." Pacifica frowned.
"Oh no. I just outed you, didn't I. I'm so sorry. I'm the worst." Pacifica started to cry.
"Pacifica" Olive put an arm around her. "It's fine. Mabel would've found out at some point."
"But still. I can't believe I did that." The crying got intense and people started to stare. Dipper walked over.
"Pacifica, are you okay??"
"We're just having a moment. Nothing to see her-"
"Alright everyone. It is time to sing to the birthday girl." Pacifica's dad stated as they delivered the cake. You could tell she was overwhelmed by everyone staring at her. We all started to sing happy birthday and Pacifica looked at her parents in front of her, closed her eyes and blew out her candles. Everyone cheered.
"Thank you everyone for coming. I just feel so blessed for each and every one of you. You mean the world to me." Everyone applauded at her comment and took their seats, well almost everyone. Her parents stood there, stunned. The cook took the cake away to cut, where I saw Pacifica look at her parents and shut down. All it took was a nod from her father for her to get up and walk away with them.
"That does not look good." Olive stated.
"Not at all." I get up, but Olive grabs my arm.
"Mabel, you know that's not a good idea." I sat down.
"I just hate seeing her so upset, and all because of her parents. I'd give anything for her to have a better home life." Olive smiled at me. "What??"
"Nothing. You're just a really kind person." I smiled at her. I don't know why her comment made me feel really happy inside.
"So are you."
"Thanks." We stared at each other for a second. Something is sticking in my brain, and my drunken mouth decided it was fine to say.
"I like gay people by the way." She looked at me confused. "I mean, I don't really care about gay people. I mean the fact that they're gay, I care about them. I care about everyone. Fuck. My drunk brain is making this make no sense." She starts chuckling.
"It's ok, Mabel. I know what you're trying to say."
"Good. I just didn't want you to think I wasn't supportive."
"I appreciate that. I'm completely out anyway so it doesn't really matter."
"It does though, it's an aspect of you that you wanted to tell me yourself. So to repay, I shall give you a secret of mine. I have a pig named Waddles."
"Wait really?? That's adorable." We chuckled and continued talking the rest of the night, just telling each other random facts about ourselves, getting to know each other, it was nice.
