*Dipper POV*

It's been about an hour since Pacifica went with her parents and I was a little bit worried. Her parents returned, but not her, and people started to leave for the night. I walk over to see if Mabel or Olive know where she is.

"Hey, do either of you know where Pacifica is??"

"No bro, I haven't seen her since her parents took her away."

"Well, do you know where I could find her?? I wanna make sure she's okay." Olive and Mabel look at each other.

"My guess would be she's in her shut down spot."

"Shut down spot??"

"Yeah. There's a spot on the roof of her house she can get to without making it obvious she's there. It's where she goes when she needs to escape."

"Thanks guys. Where is that??"

"That's not your business."

"What do you mean??"

"She goes there to escape everyone and everything. You shouldn't disturb that."

"Olive, it's okay. She's had time to be by herself and I think she'd appreciate Dipper's company." Olive sighed but nodded. "Go in the door next to the stairs, that leads you to the tower stairs. Walk up to the 3rd window and go outside it. She should be to your left."

"Thanks Mabel." I ran away.

*Mabel POV*

"You're scheming something, aren't you??"

"Maybe." I smiled.

*Dipper POV*

I finally get up to the third window and step out onto the roof. I walk towards my left and up a bit, and there she is, sitting up, looking at the stars.

"Mind if I join you??" She snapped her head and jumped.

"Jeez, you scared me."

"Sorry. Would you like to be alone??"

"No. Come sit." I do just that. I look at her and she's locked onto the sky again, I look up, trying to see what's so mesmerizing about it. "It's infinite."

"Huh??"

"Space. It's an infinitely growing place with new things to see. It puts in perspective how little anyone matters. It's calming."

"Wow, that was surprisingly deep."

"I'm full of surprises I guess." We chuckle a bit.

"It really is peaceful to get lost in."

"Yeah." We sat there in silence for a bit. "I wished for new parents."

"Aren't you not supposed to tell??"

"It doesn't matter. I'm a Northwest. Nothing can change that. Kind of a waste of a wish now that I think about it."

"Maybe, but it's a valid request. Your parents are horrible."

"They said I was a disappointment and embarrassment to our family name. All because I don't hate every single other person in this world."

"That's so stupid." She shrugged.

"It's whatever. It could've been worse."

"What do you mean??"

"Neither of them hit me." I was stunned when I heard her say that.

"Do they do that a lot??"

"Not a lot, but it has happened more frequently the past couple of years. The better of a human being I become, the more frequent it is."

"Pacifica, you should report that. I mean, that's abuse."

"Report to who?? My parents could pay off anyone to drop that sort of case before anything good could happen. I'm stuck Dipper."

"I'm so sorry."

"It's okay. I'll leave when I'm 18 and when they cut me off, I'll have all the money I've saved up to survive without them."

"Is that why you work at the diner??"

"Yup. I get a lot of tips, especially from men."

"Men are gross."

"Yeah, but more money for me." We laughed.

"So what're you gonna do when you cut them off?? Are you gonna leave Gravity Falls??"

"I wish I could stay, but as long as they're here, I have to."

"I'm sorry."

"It is what it is. I don't really care where I end up. I just want a normal life with a husband and some kids."

"How many??"

"How many what??"

"How many kids??"

"3"

"That's a good number. Make sure they all have someone to play with. I don't know where I'd be without Mabel."

"What about you??"

"What about me??"

"What're your plans??"

"Not sure. I don't know what I want for a career, but I also want a family."

"That's nice."

"Yeah. But I haven't ever had a girlfriend so I feel like I can't think too far ahead."

"That's not how this works. I've never had a boyfriend before."

"Really??"
"Yeah. My parents always have to approve of my possible boyfriends. It's so annoying."

"Sounds like it. Have they tried to set you up too??"

"Yup. Just tonight, there were three guys they wanted me to meet."

"And??"

"They were all boring, arrogant, and overall unpleasant. I guess that's how I was a few years ago."

"That's not true. You were never boring." She shoved me and we laughed. "But seriously, I think the person you were makes you awesome."

"What do you mean??"

"Well, it would've been so easy to stay on the path of your parents, but you didn't. You fought all of that and became such a kind, gentle person. That's impressive."

"Really??"

"Yes. It takes so much strength to endure what you do and to break the chain. And you're doing that. And I think it has made you so compassionate."

"Thanks Dipper."

"Of course."

"No really, thank you. No one has ever talked about me that way. You're a really nice guy, and you deserve everything good in the world." We smile at each other. In that moment, time completely stopped and nothing else mattered. I felt really warm and happy looking at her. The way the stars light up her eyes and how she smiles with her eyes. She just looks perfect. This moment feels perfect.

"Um...I should probably grab my sister and her friends to take them home."

"Oh, right yeah." We both stand up. "Thanks for coming Dipper." She hugs me tight, which I also do to her. We part a bit and all I want to do is kiss her. After a few seconds of contemplation, we part and awkwardly go downstairs.

I dropped off Candy, Grenda and Olive and then went back to the shack. Mabel passed out on her bed and I sat on the roof, wishing Pacifica was next to me. I heard my phone go off and it was a text from Pacifica.

Hey It's Pacifica. Mabel gave me your number. I just wanted to say I really appreciate you coming to my party. It was definitely a great night despite my parents being annoying 😣 Stop by the diner sometime. 😊.

I smiled at this message, and knew what that meant. I've fallen for Pacifica Northwest. A mix of joy and terror flowed through my body.
