Still In Space

Anne slowly drifted back into consciousness, her senses gradually returning. The first thing she noticed was how soft everything felt around her. She snuggled deeper into the fabric, inhaling a scent that was strangely comforting, a complex blend of deep, warm notes, slightly woody with an edge of something wild and unfamiliar. Her eyelids fluttered open, and she squinted at the room around her.

A sleek, floating table hovered next to the bed, and atop it was a glass of water. Her memory came rushing back—the bathtub, the message from X'lar, the strange sensation, and then... waking up here. It hadn't been a dream, she was still in space, on the ship of an alien she met over an intergalactic kink dating app. She started to sit up, just as X'lar's deep, resonant voice filled the space.

"The water is for you, it's safe to drink," he said calmly. "I'm glad to see you have recovered. I apologize; the transportation seems to have affected you more than anticipated."

Anne blinked a few times, still trying to orient herself. She glanced to the side and saw her towel draped neatly over the arm of a large chair. Her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly checked under the blanket, letting out a small sigh of relief when she saw that she wasn't naked, but instead dressed in some kind of sleek, futuristic suit that seemed to mold perfectly to her body.

X'lar seemed to notice her alarm. "Do not worry," he reassured her, his voice steady. "I did not look. I placed you in this for your comfort." He paused, then demonstrated, turning around to show a bright yellow area between his shoulder blades. As if on cue, the yellow patch seemed to shimmer, and in an instant, his own suit disappeared into the spot like liquid, revealing his skin—muscular and powerful. A second later, the suit reformed over him, as if it had never left.

Anne was still processing what she had seen, her mind racing with questions and confusion. She nodded, a bit dazed. "Thank you... "

Reaching for the glass of water, her hands trembled slightly, still shaky from the dizziness. X'lar noticed immediately and moved closer, picking up the glass with ease and bringing it to her lips. His large hands were surprisingly gentle, and she took a few small sips, grateful for the support.

Anne slowly blinked, her vision still a little hazy as she tried to ground herself. X'lar watched her closely, his expression calm but with a hint of concern in his glowing eyes.

"Are you feeling better?" he asked, his deep voice gentle.

Anne nodded, though the world still felt a little unsteady. "I'm okay, just... still a bit dizzy."

X'lar observed her for a moment, then asked, "Would you like more time to recover?"

She hesitated, not wanting to appear weak and the thousand questions in her mind demanding answers. She shook her head, mustering a small smile.

He returned the smile, a subtle but warm curve of his lips. "It wasn't my intention to have you in my bed so soon," he admitted with a hint of dry humor, "but it seemed the best place for you to recover."

Anne's cheeks flushed as she realized she had been resting in his bed this whole time, surrounded by his scent.

X'lar straightened, his towering form still managing to look composed. "Allow me to change our surroundings to something more appropriate," he said, extending his large hand to her.

Anne took it without hesitation, his touch warm and firm. Before she could fully brace herself, X'lar scooped her up effortlessly, cradling her against his broad chest. She felt small and secure in his hold. The faint, distinct scent of him filled her senses, and for a moment, all her earlier confusion and fear melted away, replaced by a strange sense of contentment.

X'lar carried her with an easy grace, and Anne couldn't help but close her eyes, feeling his steady heartbeat beneath her cheek.
