Summer break! {3}

Once home, during the summer, I sent weekly letters to Hermione, Ron, Harry, Susan, and Cedric. Hermione and Susan were the ones who would consistently reply on a weekly basis. Harry wouldn't respond but I understood his predicament. Ron would forget to reply and Cedric would be busy with his family and other friends but would reply every now and then.

This summer, my mother allowed me to help more with potion-making. It made me really want to pursue it in the future. I was currently studying herbology and potions books she gave me. She really wants me to learn more and be able to recognize the scents of ingredients and memorize the recipes.

At this rate, I may be able to take advanced potions in my 6th year! My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of an owl. I look up and see Apollo with a bundle of letters. I quickly stand and unwrap them from him. I pet him and he hoots in response. I pull out his pellets and put them in his dish and he eats. I walk back to the living room table and go through the letters.

One for my mother, two for my father, and four for me! I set theirs aside and grab my letters, sitting on the couch. I got letters from Cedric, Hermione, and Ron, as well as a Hogwarts letter today. I smile at them and open up Cedrics first.

'Dear [y/n],

I think it's a great thing you've been studying so much for school, I can only assume you'll do great academically this year as you have previously. I have some exciting news! I got a letter from Hogwarts and it was a perfects badge. I have been chosen as a perfect for Hufflepuff this year! I am very excited about this opportunity, Dumbledore himself wrote that he sees lots of potential in me and I can barely wait for the new school year to start. There has been some talk of choosing a new Quidditch captain for next year as well. Rumors are that I may have a good shot at it! I would be mental to not accept either opportunity, I can only wait for their decision but I would be happy to become our captain. We should hang out sometime over the break, please write me your available dates and maybe we can find some time to see each other.

Yours truly, Cedric'

I smiled as I read it, happy for Cedric's accomplishments. I can only have faith that he would become our captain, everyone in our team adored him and It just made sense for it. He seemed to be shaping up to become our golden boy. I move onto Hermione's letter.

'Dear [y/n],

I am pleased to hear you are also studying over the break. School is the most important thing to us students, If only Ron and Harry shared our thoughts. Speaking of school, I got my list of supplies and went shopping for it already. One of the books is on divination, which I read through and honestly, It seems like a load of rubbish! I have a love for learning but this seems like a looney witch made it all up. Reading tea leaves and cards to see the future? Sounds like a fairy tale! But that aside, I have been speaking with Professor McGonagall and have been trying to fit as many classes into my schedule this year. She suggested a magical item called a time turner, which would allow me to turn back time and be in different classes at the same time but not really. It was confusing at first but I understand it now, I am thinking of accepting her offer. I wish you well and hope to see you again soon! I had lots of fun the last time we hung out, still can't believe you didn't know what a television was.

Your best friend, Hermione'

I laughed at her ranting and couldn't help but disagree with her. I think divination is a great subject but I have yet to go shopping. Maybe that's what the Hogwarts letter was. I then grabbed it and opened it to see a list of school supplies I'd need for this year, seems like I need to go shopping soon. There was still about half a month left before classes began, so I had plenty of time. I then grab Ron's letter and open it.
