Lada was standing in front of the TV with eyes glued on it watching the breaking news of the fall of an airplane around Bermuda triangle. She let Earn folded up her long sleeve.Suddenly her phone ringed somewhere. She walked towards the voice source by reflex, making Earn had to get up too to follow her. She picked up the phone. It was her resident reporting a new patient that came from emergency.
"Stay still, P'Mor," Earn said lowly and continued fixed up Lada's shirt. Lada stopped moving.
"I'll see her tomorrow morning, thank you." She locked her phone. "Ready?"
She asked Earn."Yeah, let me take my purse first," she ran to her bedroom and stepped out the next minutes with her pink clutch bag.
She was about to start the engine when she spotted a card on the dashboard. She took it and noticed the number.
"Earn, when did the last time you change the oil?"
"Uuh, I don't know, long time ago, I guess." She put on her seatbelt.
"You pass 97 miles, earn." She showed the card to the car owner. "We can't take your car."
"I honestly don't really know when to change it." She smiled embarrassedly.
"The watchman at my old place usually remind me and take it to the garage."
"No wonder," Lada chuckled. "I'll take my car key, wait here, okay?"
What Earn didn't understand was that changing the car oil based on the manufacturer's recommendation was one most important thing that she had to do to kept the vehicle's engine running in ideal condition. She knew how to use a car but didn't acknowledge its care.
Lada tapped the car's window signaling Earn to get out. The lawyer then turned off the engine and stepped out and followed Lada to her car, which was parked beside hers.
"Where to Ms. Earn Sanithada?" Lada smiled.
"I'm thinking about sushi, how's that sounds?"
"Sushi it is," Lada backed her car and drove away.
Earn was too lazy to cook and it's been pretty long ago since they had dinner at a fine restaurant. It was impromptu plan 'cause the original idea was to order the Chinese take away.
The food was good, the place was comfortable though Earn had to bit her tongue every time Lada's phone ringed. She tried to understand that Lada's job require her full time of readiness at any circumstances but she never dated a doctor let alone a surgeon before.
She had lots of troubled time to adjust herself with Lada and Lada's job.
They sometimes had to put a serious talk on hold because of that damn device ringed persistently, and not to mention countless plan they've arranged only to be cancelled. After a while, she used to the lonely night when Lada had to sleep over at the hospital due to her on-call duty. She went to sleep earlier than her routine bedtime just to kill the hours until she can meet Lada again tomorrow afternoon. Unless, if the hospital weren't too hassle, she could had more minutes hearing Lada's voice at the end of the phone before she fell asleep.
Not much different from tonight, she had to wait at the hospital parking lot whilst Lada checked on her critical patient inside the building. Lada said she wouldn't be long but it was almost thirty minutes ago since she claimed that false promise.
She decided to check Lada's PS VITA, curious of what's the great thing about game. She miserably didn't find it. There were too much instructions and too much button to be pressed at once.
