I hopped in James' car after practice. He was chugging a preworkout. I glanced at the bottle, then the pained look on his face as he downed it.
"You hate that stuff." I said as I eyed the red powdery drink. He nodded.
"I hate that stuff." He said as he crushed the empty bottle. I laughed.
"Done at four?" I asked. He nodded as he handed me the keys.
"Is it your night for dinner?"
"Yeah, I was thinking chicken tacos?" He nodded ferociously.
"Please! Oh can you make arepas?" I laughed.
"You only let me move in with you so you didn't have to miss Effie's cooking."
"I didn't not let you move in because mum taught you to cook." I rolled my eyes.
"Get out. I have to go to the store if I'm making arepas." He smiled and kissed my head.
"I love you! You're the best! I'll do all the dishes so don't even think about washing as you go!" I laughed as I climbed over the console and into the drivers seat. I checked my phone before backing up.

I unlocked my phone and went to her page. She was stunning. A five foot five redheaded girl with the curves I always dreamed of having but figure skating wouldn't allow. She was an artist from the looks of her page, transferred in from Dublin. She was gorgeous. I clicked on a picture of what appeared her new set up in her house here, and went straight to the comments.
e.rosier: happy to have you 🫶🏻
bcj24: glad all our work get to be showcased on the gram 💪🏻
rablack: welcome home, lils.
A few other comments talked about how much they missed her, or how insane her decorating skills were. I didn't pay attention to those, instead I clicked on one "rablack" profile and was relieved when it was public. Mostly videos and pictures of him skating. The occasional post with friends. I stopped when I hit an old picture of two lanky boys, one wearing a hockey jersey and the other holding his gear.
rablack: so glad i got to see @siriuslysirius play his first home match at his new school.
I looked at the two of them, side by side. The resemblance was there. The black hair, the sharp jaw, the pronounced yet somehow fitting nose. The eyes were what got me. Siri's bright green eyes looked tired, worn down, lifeless, while Regulus' looked happy and alive. They didn't look like that anymore. The ding of my phone pulled me out of my thoughts
fab five
mars: margs on tuesday?
ali: yes please
cas: when's everyone free
mary: all day, day drink?
I hovered over the keyboard for a second.
me: i get out of practice at 2. should we invite that new girl lily?
mars: why so you can bone her roommate?
me: choke
mary: i'll text her and ask her to come! :)
ali: she's actually super sweet mars
I set the phone back down and put the car in reverse.

Living in a house with four boys was far from ideal, but I'd rather live with them than anyone else. They weren't as messy as they used to be and boy talk became very respectful in recent years. I glanced back towards their rooms, three cars were in the driveway when I pulled in with James' car; mine, peter's and rem's.
