Dr. Vexta had come in with a poster. Set the thing at the edge of his desk, gave him and Dr. Felidae a nod of greeting, then left. Sans pulled a curious expression before unraveling it. To his surprise and joy it was a poster on the constellations on the surface! How did she know? Sans stared after her curiously before he went to tack it up. There was no point in him looking the gift horse in the mouth. He'd have to thank her later for such a thoughtful gift. There was a soft knock on his door as he used his rolly chair to help him get taller to put the poster up. Sand couldn't help the joking reply of, "who's there?" There was a brief pause, and to his delight, Dr. Gaster responded in the most serious tone, "Pi." Sans grinned wider. He loved mathematics and science jokes. "pi who?" He asked as he started to carefully get down. "Pi were you up there? It is dangerous." Gaster reprimanded Sans, and for a moment, the smaller skeleton couldn't help but stare. It had... been a while since someone had tried to parent him. "... heh. sorry, won't happen again."

Gaster led Sans to one of the exam rooms for his physical. Once he got a good read of his abilities, then he could begin working on what Sans could and couldn't help with. "On the table, Sans." Sans obeyed the doctor, hopping onto the examination table as Gaster prepared some instruments. "I'm sure you're aware of how a physical works, but just in case, I'll go over it again. First, I will run a scan on your soul. Check your magic intake as well as your output. I will check your soul's pulse and look at the state it is in. From there, I will check your vision and head movement. Make sure that there is no damage to the skull and vertebrae. Then, I will check your back, shoulders, elbows, and wrists for any damages, as well as test your flexibility and take some samples to ensure there is nothing dangerous in your mana lines. Lastly, I will check your sensory abilities and motor functions, as well as your ability to summon and use your magic. Understood?" Sans gave a small nod and removed his jacket and shirt so they could get this done and over with.

Gaster winced at the initial appearance of Sans soul. Otherwise, he kept a straight face throughout the examination as he directed Sans on what to do and had the blood work tested on. The Royal Scientist took in every moment Sans made, noting things down as the tests continued, flexing every joint and reacting to every reflex when Gaster checked that. He had Sans do a few flexibility tests, then had him walk in a straight line, heel to toe. As he said, he did take a blood sample, as well as a magic sample for testing. Then, he had Sans summon a couple of bones and attack the wall with them. By the end of the exam, Sans was tired and a bit dizzy. Using magic usually took a toll on his body. That's why he usually avoided it, if he could. "Let's see the results, hm- Sans, are you alright?" Gaster's eyelights narrowed as Sans slipped his shirt and jacket back on, leaning into the table. "i'll be fine... continue." Sans brushed it off in favor of knowing what Gaster thought... as well as what he could do about it.

"All your results seem fairly normal for someone your age. Obviously, your height is not up to par, but soul damage can have that effect on a monster's body. Especially all the damage your soul has been through - I'm sure you already know you're lucky to even be alive." Magic hands materialized and went to fetch a few sheets of paper that were printing out. He vaguely wondered if all skeletons could do that or if it was hereditary to just Gaster and his family. Did he even have a family? "Let's see..." Gaster snapped Sans out of his thoughts. "Your tox reports are clear - your magic is clean, though... it seems to be... weaker than average for monsters of your age. This is also due to the damage done to your soul." A deep frown made its way onto Gaster's expression. "As to be expected, your scan is the most troubling. Your stats are very, very low. Your magical intake seems normal, but the output is... excessive. It's probably literally slipping through the cracks whenever you use magic - it is no wonder you seem tired by now. By the end of each day, you are probably exhausted."

Sans knew all that. It wasn't something he hadn't heard before. Every doctor he'd gone through had told him the same thing. "what can we do about it." Sans asked, to which Gaster wasn't really surprised. "I do not know." Sans gave Gaster a long look and sighed deeply. "... i thought that if anyone could help me, i'd be you. the royal scientist. but not even, you know. go figure i'd be like that..." Sans grumbled, leaning back tiredly on the table. Gaster went quiet as he took in the other skeleton before him. Sans looked tired. And not just from the exam. He looked done, defeated. "You know... I may not know what to do now, but that does not mean we can not find out... as a side project." Sans lifted his head to look at the scientist again. "really?" Gaster looked amused by Sans hopeful expression. "I have been meaning to look in further on souls anyway, seeing as we have three human ones at our disposal. Now come, let's get you rested up, and we can discuss the details of the soul studies after work. For now, I must be getting to the C.O.R.E for maintenance." Sans nodded eagerly and slipped off the table to tiredly follow the Royal Scientist.
