The town had grown quiet. Any stragglers from the fight were either laying low or fleeing. Once I had taken out their leaders, they all turned tail and ran. It did not bother me much. I was honestly a bit tired after all the running around tonight.
I sat on the rooftop and sipped at the bottle of wine, enjoying the peaceful moment until it was interrupted by an explosion back down on the street. My lip curled into a frown as I turned toward the sound, "Oh, great. What now? Don't them me those guys are still trying to pick a fight with me?"
I crept to the edge of the rooftop so as not to get spotted and looked down at the street below me. Mr. 8, Mr. 9, and Miss Wednesday were standing across from two people I did not recognise. One of them was a tall, dark-skinned man with a messy afro wearing a maroon trenchcoat. The pale woman standing beside him was blonde and wore a lemon-themed sundress with a matching bucket hat and earrings. She was twirling a parasol over her shoulder.
The man held up what looked like a picture, but it was hard to tell from this distance. His tone was stern as he spoke with a smooth, deep voice, "Igaram, Captain of Alabasta Security, and Princess Vivi Nefertari of Alabasta Kingdom. We have come here in the name of the boss of Baroque Works to see that you are both eliminated!"
Mr. 8 and Miss Wednesday both glared at the man. I could not help but grin as I watched the scene unfold, "This could be good," I took another big gulp of the wine, nearly finishing the bottle before I looked back down at the street and saw my captain was still snoring on the ground, "Ah, damnit. I left Luffy down there with 'em. I'd better do something about it."
I threw my head back and finished off the wine before I dropped down from the roof. I slipped between two buildings to get nearer to Luffy when I heard another explosion. I flinched a bit, hoping Luffy had not gotten caught in the crossfire. As I peeked out into the street, I was relieved to see he was unscathed.
With a grunt, I ran out onto the street and grabbed Luffy by the collar, "Well, I've had enough fun for tonight," I dashed across the road to duck into the alleyway, "See ya."
Once Luffy and I were behind cover, I turned back to watch the Baroque Works agents. The last thing I wanted was for these guys to try and catch me unawares. I was grossed out to see the man down the street start to pick his nose.
Miss Wednesday, or I suppose Princess Vivi, pulled out her rings and whirled the bladed whips as she snarled at him, "Let's see if you can take me!"
I raised an eyebrow at her, "She can't be serious, right? She sucked trying to fight me... Unless she was faking it to keep her cover without actually fighting me."
I did not get the chance to know because Mr. 9 stepped in front of her, wielding his club, "This whole 'princess' thing is pretty confusing, but we've been fighting together for a long time so get going!" He faced the pair in front of them, "I'm going to buy you some time for a head start."
The blue-haired woman nodded and spoke with a waver in her voice, "Thank you, Mr. 9" She lowered her whips and turned toward her duck.
Mr. 9 huffed confidently, "Pretty manly of me, don't'cha think? Bye-bye, baby!" He grunted as he lunged into a series of forward cartwheels toward the man, "I hope you're prepared for this!"
The man finally got his finger out of his nose and I grimaced as I saw him rolling something between his fingers, "All that is asked of us agents is to do our jobs and to do them well. Forming such pathetic friendships is for the weak. It's time that you learned that," He held his arm out in front of him as if aiming a gun, though it looked like he was about to flick the man, "My Nose Fancy Cannon!"
